Control Products WS-04 WaterSiren Plus

I use the Water Siren Plus in conjunction with an automatic dialer to alert me to the presence of adverse conditions in a second residence. The package instructions indicate that you can use the Water Siren Plus in two ways. You can either place the unit directly on the floor or you can detach the small sensor part from the main unit and locate it in a hard to reach area (there is a wire that connects the sensor to the siren unit). Since I did not have a hard to reach application, I opted to place the entire siren unit on the floor. By the time I was able to respond to an alarm condition, there was already 1 inch of water on the floor. The Water Siren electronics were fully submerged and shorted out. To the credit of the Water Siren Plus, it performed as it should and I was able to respond to a bad situation that would have been much worse had I not been alerted. Also, I was able to clean up and dry out the shorted out unit and it returned to full operation. However, since the unit was powered when it shorted out, many of the connections are corroded and can not be trusted long-term. This recent purchase is for a replacement unit. I have taken caution from my experience and detached the sensor from the siren unit so that I could place the siren unit that contains sensitive electronics in a spot where it will not get wet. In the meantime, the small sensor sits on the floor, remaining vigilant in its never ending watch for water.

this is an excellent product but a bit on the pricey side...the are much lesser priced sirens. but this one has contacts that can be attached to automated dialers and that must be the reason. alarm is loud enough and works instantly. the only thing i could suggest is if it had a light too but thats minor.

Getting to the point, the WaterSiren Plus is GARBAGE, absolute GARBAGE. Purchased in late 2013, the WaterSiren Plus connection to the Dialer, its sensitivity to moisture and the Dialer's ability to dial-out have been tested regularly. Weekly, I remotely checked-in with the Dialer and received reports that "there are no alarm conditions ......" Unfortunately, being the GARBAGE that it is, the WaterSiren failed to trigger an alarm condition when the sump pump failed leaving 2 feet of basement water. I thought I was protected, however, being the GARBAGE that it is, the WaterSiren provides nothing more than a false sense of security. Lesson learned.... If it's worth protecting, it's worth investing in quality equipment. I shouldn't have expected much for $36 other than the GARBAGE I received. Next, I'll see if Amazon prints this review “as-submitted” warning others of the risk of buying GARBAGE.

The Siren arrived promptly with no shipping damage. It looks to be of high quality and will serve the function it is designed for. I was expecting a Siren sound but the tweeting will work but could be louder. Overall I would buy again.

My in-attic air conditioning unit is suspended with a metal tray under it to catch any water that overflows from a possible clogged drain. If the tray overflows the water drips down to my ceilings. The shut off switch was faulty so I replaced it with the WaterSiren Plus. Now any water overflows will shut off my air conditioner and sounds an alarm. It has saved me twice now. It would also work well in a basement.

I hooked it up to my alarm and dialer and gave it a test and it worked flawlessly.I think their Freeze alarm FA-D2 would probably do a good job instead of my complicated alarm system. Amazon had the best price also.

Works well with the recommended control unit. Can be a lifesaver if your basement is prone to flooding

I was disappointed that did not get a chance to try it out because of missing sensor, so had to send It back
