The art is good, the colors are sharp
A well written, quality piece of literature and art. The first issue of Vox Machina Origins is short, but satisfying, setting up the premise of the plot, as well as 3 of the main characters. The art is good, the colors are sharp, the line art is very clear. It's easy to see what things are and how characters are interacting with things. Emotions are conveyed clearly, and with a reasonable amount of interpretation. The writing is very good. The relationship of the twins is very quickly defined and entertaining to watch. The druid character (Keyleth) is a bit rushed, but I get the sense that she will become important later. The combat is very obviously heavily inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, and there are one or two moments that require suspension of your disbelief (several wounds that should have been deadly are simply shrugged off by characters), but it's quite entertaining for it. I'd say the weakest part of the whole thing is the placement of some of the speech bubbles does not follow the natural path of the eye and can be VERY confusing to read. I hope that is improved upon in future issues.Overall, definitely worth your money.

Exciting beginning to a soon-to-be epic story!
Vox Machina: Origins is a story set in the Dungeons and Dragons style world of Tal'dorei, following the adventures of a group of "mercenaries", who meet by means of a dangerous plot to rid the small town of Stilben of its inhabitants. The story opens with Vax'ildan and Vex'ahlia, twin half elves with a penchant for mischief. On the trail of an epidemic level of stillborn children, the duo find themselves hired to investigate the situation by a man who lost his own children and wife to the so called curse. They've come to investigate the nearby swamp where they are ambushed by a particularly ugly and hostile fish person who, of course, dies, but manages to wound Vax. When suddenly, a young and quirky red headed half-elf shows up and heals Vax of his injuries. They discover that she, too, is on her own investigation of the stillborn children and her new insights lead the twins to believe that there is so much more to this than a simple curse. This first issue is something I would recommend to anybody, whether fans of Critical Role or even if you've never heard of Critical Role. I myself being a long time fan of the show! Exciting action, witty dialogue and beautiful artwork, this will not disappoint! Can't wait for the rest!

I have come to know and love the characters as I know so many others have
As a fan of the online show, I have come to know and love the characters as I know so many others have. When I heard that a comic would be coming out about Vox Machina's pre-stream antics, I was excited, but weary. The book, and also apparently the rest of the series, takes place even pre-home game (meaning that creative liberties could be taken without ruining lore, or backstory, or canon, or whichever word you wish to use here) and yet embodies the characters wonderfully! The dialogue, and mannerisms presented within are spot on for the actors' portrayals of their characters, and how they described them being pre-stream. I really enjoyed the setup to this adventure, as well as the fantastic art and writing, and look forward to the rest of the series to come.

A Critical Read
I've been a fan of Vox Machina from Critical Role for quite some time and was super excited to see them get their own graphic novel. It doesn't disappoint! The art is beautiful and captures the characters perfectly. The story is equal parts breathtaking, funny, and action packed. Also, little spoiler here, who doesn't love it when a character gets unexpectedly attacked by a shark in a swamp! I totally recommend this for fans of the show and non-fans as well. You don't need to see Critical Role or know anything about it to enjoy this story of twin half elves trying to solve a mystery and you should snatch it up and enjoy it.

The Beginning of a Beautiful Relationship
This first issue provides a good, solid start to developing how the lovable rag-tag group first came together even before what was presumably their first collective adventure, as documented in The Story of Vox Machina video. The dialogue fits their characters rather well, though it may take a moment to remember that this was how they were then and not how they are now. The artwork is quite lovely and the narrative itself is set up wonderfully. Very much looking forward, impatiently, to the next issue.

Love it, love it, LOVE IT!
While a bit short for the price, it was absolutely worth it. I was captivated by how such few words and drawings could so thoroughly capture the characters, without stepping on the original cast's toes, so to speak, because it felt like I was viewing Vax, Vex, and Keyleth on their own for the first time, instead of seeing them through the lens of their players. If possible, this critter of two years fell in love with this cast and this world more than she already had. Every character and background is expressive, beautifully professional, and written as if the cast themselves had dictated the lines. So a huge, huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard and took a lot of risks making these. You all did fantastic. I'm waiting with baited breath to see the next ones and buy the physical copies when they come out.

Fun
This was a great story detailing events before the animated show and before they started streaming the game sessions online (so probably Pathfinder rules). This is mostly Vex and Vax with a bit of Keelith.
