"Down"-Right Comfort for a "Down"-Low Price
I have been looking a long time for a product like this, and then to find it at this incredible price! Whoa! Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a quality down comforter in a Cal-King size? This comforter is so excellently and attractively made (in my humble opinion). It is light as--ahem--a feather, yet comfortably warm. One of the wonderful qualities of down is that you will enjoy a much wider comfort range than you will with synthetic comforters, which tend to run hot, and they're heavier to boot. The shell is beautiful and the stitching is impeccable. This comforter is a quality product that I do not hesitate to recommend to anybody! If I had to come up with a quibble, it is one that it shares with most bedding I've experienced of late--the comforter could be a foot or two longer. Bedding manufacturers seem to be cutting costs by producing the shortest product they can get away with. The problems is, with a lot of custom mattresses thicker than standard these days, by the time you stick enough sheet or comforter under the mattress to anchor it, you don't get enough at the other end to cover yourself up to your neck and shoulders. If you pull it up to your neck, it comes out at the foot and your feet get cold. And unless you're short, forget about sleeping on your back--there's just not enough material to allow a tent for your feet and cover yourself much beyond your waist at the same time. Nevertheless, the dimensions of this comforter are more generous than I've experienced with other similar products. You'll not regret the purchase of this comforter, and the colder it gets the "gladder" you'll get!

Great comforter at the beginning, but...
... It just doesn't STAY that way.See all those stitched squares in the picture of this gorgeous down comforter? Apparently they don't go all the way through the comforter! There is stitching on both sides, and never the twain shall meet... this means to you that the wonderful down in the center of the comforter (the stuff that makes it so squeezy for you) migrates over time to the EDGES of the comforter, where it's worthless. That leaves you with effectively 2 connected light blankets, with a few feathers in between, to sleep under. We didn't pay $157 for that. What they should have done is stitch all the way through, trapping the down in each square. But they didn't.As much as we hated to do it, we requested a return of this item. The search resumes for a down comforter that actually does what a down comforter's supposed to do. Caveat emptor.UPDATE 6-30-14:Syed at Egyptian Cotton has worked diligently with us to get us a comforter wherein the down stays put. So kudos to the seller for doing the right thing. He has exceeded expectations and is to be commended. He also explained that most down comforters have to be shaken regularly to re-distribute the down... something that was not mentioned in the description and is not possible for a couple of old disabled veterans to do. I did, however, add ONE STAR back to the comforter because this is evidently something we should have known. Did you know that? Anyway, the comforter will stand at three stars MAX, but 5 stars for the SELLER.

Woot!
I was a tad nervous about this one as there were quite a few reviews reporting non-box construction or feathers poking through. I'm happy to report no poky feathers and the one I received IS box construction. Very comfortable, very nice and I'm very happy. It is fairly light weight, if you happen to be sleeping in a below freezing, North Dakota, unpowered frontier house you might want a heavier weight. I sleep in a fairly cool room, probably about 50 degrees F +- 5 or so degrees in the fall with windows open and it's perfect.Update: Still loving this comforter. I enjoy sleeping in the cold and I've spent quite a few nights in an unheated bedroom this winter. I bought a second one of these for to have another layer. That one is also box construction and has no poky feather issues. With two of these a room temp of 20 degrees to 32 degrees is quite cozy. On the few nights down to 10 degrees two have been quite enough too, any colder than that and it will take more blankets on top to stay warm.

Wonderful comforter...wonderful price
I love this comforter! It fluffed up after it was on my bed a little while. I swear it is still getting loftier even after three weeks. It is light and does not shed any feathers whatsoever. We never had any smell like one reviewer mentioned. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I wish it were a little wider. We have a California King bed, but if you have a queen, I suggest buying a king-sized comforter because they are wider but not longer (which you wouldn't need). I would recommend this purchase to anyone looking for a great affordable comforter.

smell !!!!!!
I purchased the comforter and received it within days. Very happy with the way it looks and feels. I haven't tried it yet because it smells like a duck farm. I have tried airing it out for days now but it still smells. Can anyone recommend some ways to get rid of the smell??? I heard goose down is not supposed to smell, only duck feathers do. So I am wondering if I am paying for goose down or duck feather? Also I read that the smell may have come from poor processing (cleaning) of the down. Once I get rid of the smell, I know I will be happy about it. But right now, I can't use it. Please help!!!!!! Please post your comments.

Worry free
I dont know why people are saying bad things.. I got mine out of the bag and let it air out and it is easily the warmest blanket i have ever had. For the price it really cant be beat. I went to a bed store and they wanted 375 for the same exact thing! 135 bucks for a nice heavy downs blanket, good deal, it does fit the whole bed. It hangs over about 5 inches on each side plus about 1 foot over the bottom of the bed. If you are looking for a downs that is what they say it is, then this is the one you want.
