Product Integrity Monitors, or PIMs, are attached to the product or container during transportation and/or within the storage environment. An internal sensor detects and stores temperature data and can be set to a sample rate of every 1 second to 18 hours. Unlike other data loggers, PIMs are able to store 16+ million samples without running out of memory space. This is done by recording the min and max temperatures during each logging interval and changing the intervals, as needed, to compress the log. All temperatures can then be collected from the PIM and uploaded to your computer via wireless infrared communication. In addition to temperature logging, PIMs can record logistics information such as batch numbers and changes of custody. This information can be used to make handling decisions during shipment.
