First 50 Songs You Should Play on the Accordion Kindle Edition

Fifty songs many of them classic accordion is a good value. However like said in other reviews there is just way too much white space. The notes are too large, the number of staffs per page is not enough. You would think from a large company like Hal Leonard they would have enough professionalism to lay it out better. Another issue I have is there are no fingerings (the counter base are marked). Having fingerings would be especially helpful in songs like Libertango where there is chord over note on the base side. These are straight forward arrangements that appear to be for the early to middle intermediate level.A good value but with so few books currently available I hoped for a little more.

This book does have 50 songs (though I probably won't ever play most of them because they are not my songs I like). It includes treble and bass clef notes along with chords and even has notations over the bass clef to signify which notes are of minor/7th/dim chords. The pages are a bit larger than I would like and most songs take up three or four pages. (I like to copy the pages on my printer and the book's pages are so large that I have to adjust the percentage size for that to work. Also, I am not used to having to turn multiple pages back and forth to play songs and my music holder is just big enough for two or three pages at a time.) Both problems are not difficult to overcome.

This is a collection of true popular classics of yesteryear. All are immediately recognizable - and kind of remind me of the old Lawrence Welk show (in a positive way). The arrangements are relatively simple and I found I could sight read most of them right off the bat. Another reviewer has noted that the book requires a LOT of page turning to complete a piece while reading the page. I agree with that assessment. However, that encourages memorization to eventually play the numbers without the book.Overall - It's a great collection and i'm enjoying learning to play many of the songs by heart.

Anyone who plays the accordian at any level will love this collection of arrangements. It's also a HUGE moneysaver for those who buy one song online for $5.

I am an intermediate skill player and I think most every accordion player will appreciate this book.
