American Standard Cadet 3 Concealed Trapway Trip Lever Assembly

Not the exact replacement but I knew that when I ordered it. But the photo I took of the inside tank lift arm of the original unit looked exactly like the one I bought.It works perfectly just like the original and it was very easy to install.Both are American Standard parts. One looks a little different than the other. One is significantly less expensive than the other.But they both look good. They both work the same.Just for further information that may help someone making this decision.My toilet is a American Standard Challenger series and the flush arm I bought is actually for the American Standard Cadet 3 series. The Challenger series outside handle does look different. It could be argued, maybe a little more elegant looking.. Who cares. Repair done and it works perfectly.Oh yeah. I don't know what happened to the original hook from the flush valve chain that attaches to the plastic lift arm. So don't misplace or toss your old one. The new arm doesn't come with a new hook or attaching ring. If you lose yours or the old one is corroded, a small zip tie works just right.

The American Standard Cadet 3:Update: I tried an off brand and had to bend the metal arm without breaking the handle. This American Standard feels better! The leverage makes it work better.The trip lever shown in the manual has 3.5" and 5.5" (approximately) arms. This was 5.5" and fit my left handle position. It didn't come with the rubber grommet. The handle design is different from my original. A manual showed the trip arm/ handle part number for a 4021 tank is 738903-0020A but mine was more like a 7381144-0020A. The part sold or what I received fit and works fine.Will see how long it lasts. A replacement part I bought on Amazon came in a pair and lasted only 2 months! Something in the plastic handle area broke. The original part broke at the handle shaft hole - split on two sides.The Cadet 3 is 7 or 8 years used.

This is the correct trip lever for the Cadet 3 for the 4021 tank. This one which is the original spec is a longer lever than the other suggested replacement trip levers. It took me a while but finally got it. When using the shorter one, if the chain was too loose, it wouldn't pull high enough, if it was too tight, the flapper could not go high enough because the chain was pulling it back because the shorter lever was too far to the left. This resulted in having to hold down the handle when flushing. Now it works great, one push and that's it.

The lever on our tank is hard to find. There is a more expensive version and maybe it would last longer but I bought a second one for when a replacement is needed. I'm happy with this one.

Junk! Do not buy. I bought 2 of them and they both failed after 4 weeks.
