Wide Eyed Owl Bookends

I just received this pair of bookends. As you can see from the picture, they match but aren't identical, which I think is a nice touch. These bookends are VERY heavy, and thus feel very sturdy. They're certainly well-suited to their book-stopping duty.However, I have one serious complaint: the color of this item does not match the color in the picture. The picture shows warm, coppery bookends. In fact, the bookends I received are almost entirely black, with just a few small patches of gold (rather than copper). Because these bookends are so dark, you can't really see some of the details that are molded into them, which is too bad.

First set showed up broken due to poor packaging. The second set showed up with no bronze/gold on them at all. They were basically black.I had to go buy some gold paint to do it my self. not sure these are worth the price with the issues i have had.The picture: the one on the left is what they both looked like prior to paint. The one on the right is after I painted it.Painted the second one and now they look good as a set!

Listen, these are great, but I feel like that's pretty apparent. What you should know before you buy these is that Anecdotal Aardvark gave me some of the best customer service I've ever received. When the package arrived broken, AA promptly shipped another set without asking for verification or for me to return the damaged items. When one of these two owls also arrived damaged, they let me choose whether I wanted a refund or a replacement for the damaged, pointy headed owl. When I asked for another set of bookends, they again promptly shipped it with no questions asked. My fiance now has 5 owls that she thinks are adorable (3 of whom now wear little hats) and couldn't be happier about a set of bookends.

They look exactly like the pictures. I ordered chubby owls and got chubby owls. They arrived really quickly and they were packaged safely so everything came in great condition. They serve their purpose, holding my books together, but they were a little lighter than what I expected. They would probably work a lot better with actual books than heavy binders, which have that weird angle so everything tilts to the side.

The bookends were exactly what I wanted at a fair price. But they were received with small chips and dings due to poor packaging from the manufacturer. The bookends moved inside the box and clanged into each other, suffering some minor damage. The exterior Amazon packaging was excellent, but the box from the maker was just not adequate.

Great bookends :D However, I'm pretty sure they're only coated, as there was a small chip when I received them which was doubly visible because the inside and the coat are two different colors. However, they still great, so I kept them.

The package was in good condition. The owls are very heavy and well made and cute. They look great on the book shelf. My only complaint was they were originally said to arrive by the 17th of December and after I ordered them the date was changed to the 28th after Christmas. My friend was happy with them regardless, but it was a bit embarrassing I didn't have them at Christmas.

I read a lot of the reviews before I purchased these owl bookends. I have to agree with everyone's review. These are beautiful, whimsical and very, very heavy. They will have no problem holding your books in place. They will also be a delightful addition to your room if you choose to separate the pair and use them as an accent. If you are an owl lover, get them!
