BG Reynolds Original Orgeat Syrup (365 mL)

Best band for this syrup that I have found. The taste is spot on and if kept refrigerated will last for quite a while. I use this for all sort of tiki type cocktails including Mai Tais. I have tried other brands even some produced locally in my city but they are not as consistently good as this one.

This is my second experience ordering your Orgeat syrup. Each time I ordered 3 bottles. The first 3 bottles were individually boxed inside another box. This order the 3 bottles were loosely wrapped in bubblewrap. The first packaging experience was better. The one bottle of the second order that I have opened contained "sediment".The first order each of the three bottles were crystal clear-golden.The taste is perfect.

Tastes great as the touch of sweet in an old fashioned. Check out the updated old fashioned recipe in Chris Kimball’s Milk Street. Bottle was a little sticky when it arrived otherwise I’d have max stars across all categories.

This 'syrup' looks like either something my cat coughed up or dust bunnies in the corner if I haven't vacuumed for a month. Taste is substandard compared to a from-scratch recipe (ex. Smuggler's Cove) and there is enough citric acid to think a lemon was squeezed. Topping it all off, the price is absurd given that the raw ingredients to make an authentic orgeat from scratch would be less than $3 including the bottle and labels.

Hands down, BG Reynolds is my favorite orgeat. Natural ingredients, perfectly balanced flavor.

Open the bottle and the scent is exclusively brown sugar. Taste, and it is brown sugar with the barest hint of almond. Traditional orgeat has floral notes. This is simply demerra syrup with a slight amount of almond extract--this is not so much orgeat than just almond syrup. Easily made at home for a fraction of the price. I was looking for a quality orgeat because it was hard to find rose and/or orange blossom water that is usually used to make orgeat and I thought this would be simpler. To be fair I should have read the description where it lists the ingredients as just sugar and almond extract (and xanthum gum?) Save money and make your own (equal parts boiling water and raw sugar). Add a little almond extract to simulate this product. Steep a couple cinnamon sticks for cinnamon syrup or a scraped vanilla bean for vanilla syrup. I'll keep looking for a more traditional orgeat or the ingredients to make at home. The bottle will be handy, I suppose. Oh...and for a quality grenadine, equal parts boiling POM pommegranite juice and white sugar.
