Vintage 70's Sound, Doom, Blues
Nostalgic, vintage, doom rock. Hard to believe this album was recorded in 2003, and not 1963 (in a good way). The Animals meets Black Sabbath. Very similar to Pentagram's "First Daze Here (1971-1975)" recordings. Very warm, bluesy metal. Sounds like Zeppelin or the Birds, and sometimes like the Beatles in parts. The track, "No Angel, No Demon" is worth the price of the CD.Good instrumentation. Great continuity. I've had this CD playing non-stop for about 3 days, now. It has a mellow, English vibe, and not much attitude or agression to speak of. Still, this album is superior to all the nuMetal on MTV and the rap-rock on commercial rock radio stations, and most of what's on the underground rock radio stations, too! Joe Bob says, "Check it out!"Several very catchy songs, but not as many as hoped (so only 4 stars). We'll see what the band's next album is like. Get Pentagram's "First Daze" album first, if you don't already yet have it.

Witchcraft is Sweden's finest. This will take you back to a time when music was about soul.
Amazing that something like this was released in 2004. This is part of the 70's retro style psychedelic revival that we are going through right now! Gotta say I really love being around for this great revival of such an amazing style of music. This is a classic album with a very heavy vintage 70's sound. This is very cool retro style Metal. If you love bands like Pentagram, Graveyard, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple or any other Psychedelic Rock/Metal you should dig this release. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to discover the spirit of what made music so great in the late 60's/70's. Favorite tracks are the opening self titled track, Please Don't Forget Me, Lady Winter, What I Am, Schyssta lΓΆgner (sang in a completely different language, which is absolutely beautiful and truly unique), No Angel or Demon (possibly the best song on the entire album), and It's So Easy. Get this if you want a break from the horrible mainstream garbage we get fed from the radio on a daily basis. This is truly a breath of fresh air!

Sound of the 70s metal
Swedish "Witchcraft" belongs to the new generation of talented Scandinavian bands, which have a tendency to move towards metal. In this aspect one can talk about Scandinavian invasion. "Witchcraft" is an excellent debut album definitely influenced by Sabbath and with distinctive sound of the 70s - a great advantage. Music is good. Another plus: singing, perhaps not top rate, but still confident and it's singing! Not growling, grunting and belching - usually used to camouflage the lack of voice. The band started on the ashes of "Norrsken" in an attempt to produce just a tribute to Bobby Liebling of "Pentagram" Be Forewarned , but evolved into a very convincing and decent heavy metal act. It didn't develop in a cultural vacuum - listen to Abramis Brama Nothing Changes , for example. The artwork is very much in Aubrey Beardsley style, and completes other merits of the album. Worth every penny

Swedish band
Dark-n-doomy folk rock. Not loud or heavy. Very esoteric, very roots sounding. OK at best.

Debut Album
This is Witchcraft's debut album, Founded by Magnus Pelander, initially only to record a one-song tribute to Pentagram. It is great they stuck with it because in my honest opinion they are one of the best bands out right now. Very retro sound Psychedelic mixed with some Jethro Tull and Black Sabbath. Great for your collection

Great Record
This is a great record. It hints at Sabbath, but unique instrumentation, chord progressions, and lyrical content. It's pretty much better than anyone in America is putting out right now. Sorry Vampire Weekend. Sorry Courtney Love.
