Ariki and the Giant Shark

An utterly beautiful book. Ariki has always felt different to the villagers on the island where she lives. She loves nothing more than to swim and dive, but a close encounter with a shark opens up a new adventure for her that will reveal truths about the island she lies on, and Ariki’s hidden past. There is so much packed into this book, adventure, friendship, destiny and courage, and underneath it all is a deep love of and respect for nature. With gorgeous illustrations by Nicola Kinnear, this is a really special book. Loved it

I loved reading this with my daughter. Ariki is a wonderful character and her world was vividly imagined with wonderful secondary characters and an uplifting story at its heart. Can't wait for book 2.
