Freshwater Fishing Tips & Techniques: A Fully Illustrated Guide to Freshwater Fishing

Been looking for a good fishing book for awhile. This one was worth the weight. I can't think of a subject connected with fresh water fishing that this book does not cover. Poles, bait, color pictures of all fish. Different tips how to dress your line as well as cleaning your fish. There is none better.

I'm getting back into fishing after many years and have been reading up. I've read or examined maybe 20 different books in the past month. While there are a number of good books on freshwater fishing, this one is way out ahead of the others. It contains many detailed instructions for special techniques. The author is neutral regarding both type of fishing as well as brands of gear. If you like a lot of folksy fish tales, try some of the other good books. This one focuses on workable techniques -- many of them ingenious -- using easy-to-find equipment, materials and baits. I'm itching to put more of them into practice. The book is laid out in such a way that you can quickly get to the information that interests you. Lots of diagrams illustrate the methods described. If you buy only one freshwater fishing book, make it this one. If you're going to buy several, get this one first.

Great book that reads like a fishing textbook. The tables and layout make it easy to look up specific information regarding different species of fish and how to fish for them under different conditions. Highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their fishing knowledge

This book provides a good outline for many of the basic tips and tricks a freshwater fisherman should know. It is not a thoroughly "comprehensive" guide, however. I would recommend it for a beginner or, someone that just needs refreshed on the old facts.

As a longtime deep-sea angler, my experience in shallow and freshwater fishing has been limited. Now that I've moved to inland Florida lacking a reliable boat, I've found that my options are moving towards local lakes and rivers, where I need some help. This book provided not only a great learning experience, but was just plain fun to read.The illustrations definitely enhanced the experience and help to keep the information fresh in your memory. The layout and side info, like how to entice earthworms to emerge from the ground, has kept me reading it multiple times, and all the useful info makes it hard not to miss work and get out on the water to try some of these techniques.I highly recommend this if you are wanting to expand your knowledge of freshwater fishing or are a beginner looking to get started.Great book!

I can see how this book would be helpful to an experienced angler. It's mostly a compendium of tips and has some nice charts that collects useful information into easy-to-read one-pagers. For the person who is new to fishing, as I am however, it's not as useful. There's very little -- really almost none -- introductory information, and the author often uses fishing jargon without explanation. Overall, it's readable enough that I've ordered the author's "Fishing Basics" book, which sounds like what I was hoping this book would be.

This right here is a river of information about different types of fishing, and pretty much anything you need to know to get out in the water and catch some fish. It leans toward the technical side, straightforward, to the point, contains a lot of amazing illustrations. I read the whole book in just one day!! Yup, it's that good. Been going to it back and back again to refresh my memory on some of the chapters. So useful. If you love to fish, and want to learn a bit more, you won't regret this one. It does contain a few editing errors like spelling mistakes but with the incredible amount of illustrations you may not even notice.

I’ve been buying and reading numerous books on freshwater fishing for the past 2 years, trying to learn and understand how to fish. Out of all the books I’ve read, this book has helped and answered most of the things I was unclear about. Thank you much for sharing so much of the expertise that you have acquired regarding fishing. I am so happy that I stumbled on to this book!!!

As expected. A good book for beginner and intermediate anglers. Highly recommended book to read.

Very poor, nowhere does it say this is an american book, based on american practices and american fish, utter waste of time.
