Absolute junk product - stay away.
I can only assume most of these reviews are fake. This item didn't focus at all for us, completely unusable junk. My 9 year old son was really disappointed. He literally ask why Santa would give him something that didn't work!!! Thankfully, there were other gifts. Returning this garbage product, then I'll pay about 5x as much for Pentax, Leupold, or Nikon, you know, a brand name product that actually functions. WHY is this a Amazon Choice? Totally lost faith in Amazon reviews and their Choice designation.

Birds eye view
It works well to see across our 16 acre property. It's unlike anything I've used in the past. Typically I've used Binoculars. It comes with a nice, easily portable case and also a lanyard that attaches. I look forward to packing it with me when I go on trips.

Great for birdwatchers!!
Very well made. Lenses are high quality and very clear. Resolution is very sharp at different focal lengths with no distortion. Very lightweight and portable. Compatible with a simple tripod mount with a predrilled socket A great tool for birdwatchers.

Know the proper order to set the controls
I was curious about the few bad reviews this product received, and usually attribute them to either defective units or misuse of the product. The item I received was in fine condition, and after a bit of playing and reading the instructions, worked fine. First, set the eye piece so that your eyelashes don't contact the ocular lens. Second, note the tripod connection, and hold the device so that it does not turn as you adjust the other controls. Third, open the device by pulling apart, but not twisting the two ends. Fourth, set the zoom to minimum by turning the ring counter clockwise. Fifth, locate the object you want to view (near or far) and adjust the focus ring to focus on the object. You should get a clear image. Finally, if you want to zoom in on the object, adjust the zoom ring (nearest the eye piece). It should remain nearly in focus as you zoom, but a slight adjustment might be needed. If you switch to a new object at a different distance, you will have to refocus. Unless you have astigmatism, take your glasses off because the focus adjustment will compensate. The only design problem I noticed is that if you do not hold the device by the tripod mount, adjusting the zoom alters the focus, as both will turn. Good Luck!

Not "Compact"
This is not a "compact" monocular by any stretch of the imagination. You are not going to put it into a purse or a small bag. It is almost the side of one-half of a decent pair of binoculars. If you are looking for a compact monocular to put in your glove compartment, center console or handbag, this will not do.I am probably going to send it back.

Great for hikes, etc.
For the price, this is an excellent choice. No ... it's not Nikon quality optics, but it's good enough. I'm an older fellow and little shaky, so that makes things a bit challenging. However, if I attach the scope to a lightweight Targus telescopic monopod (with a Giottos small ball head), I can use it as a walking stick and wander my wooded property all day long with an optic at eye level for birding, wildlife watching, whatever. Good fun. It took me a few minutes to figure the scope out, but I'd guess many of you are smarter than me!

Good Monocular for Multi-Use in a Bright Environment.
I like the monocular to see objects that are far away from my eyes. It is good enough to see those objects with this monocular in certain (Brighter) conditions, but not in all conditions (like a darker environment or something like that). It comes with a black case with a cleaning cloth and an Instruction Manual (see picture). I wish that the lenses were made to be more sensitive to a darker environment, then it would be perfect. Overall, the grip is well made too and I am pretty satisfied with it.

MASS PRODUCTION JUNK
More cheap import (mass production) that’s not worth the price. This might be suitable for a child that wants to play pirate or detective but certainly not a scholar that might consider such a device for an afternoon on the water. Had I doubled the price I could have purchased a decent pair of binoculars. This item should be have been half the price!
