It's a good one!
So Charlie is a unicorn. Something that just doesn't happen. A female Ash. Father a vampire and mother human. She grew up believing her father died in the military. And since she is... well a girl, she didn't pay much attention to the list of warning signs that something was wrong until it was too late.I enjoyed Jaymin Eve's Supernatural Prison series so I decided to give this one a shot. Vampires are hit or miss for me but this one was a hit for sure. I loved how the lore of how vamps came to be was woven right into human culture and it just made sense. I loved how very real issues that human really have getting along with each other is mirrored in this book. We are afraid of what we don't understand. Humans, Ash, Vampires. They definitely have issues in this book.I enjoyed the characters in this book. Jayden is Charlies best Ash friend forever (BAFF) and I adore him. He's got a thing for Oliver in the sexy six. He loves to dress Charlie and he's a great roomie. They make a pair that's unusual and important as they try to survive the culling. It's clear to Charlie that this Ash thing sucks big time. Lost are all the human rights she's grown up having. She's allowed to life at the pleasure of the vamps. And the whole thing sucks.Of course, the best part of this book is another one of the sexy six - Ryder. That boy is all kinds of yum! And for some reason he wants Charlie to stay alive. I'd take my chances with him on my side any day. This book is for mature YA and could be called NA. It's heavy on the creative slang and has lots of suggestive comments but stays out of the bedroom. I enjoyed it and definitely want to dive right into the next book.

Great
Charlie is just an ordinary girl, 21 years old and going to college. Having fun with her bestie Tessa and full of plans. But then everything changes when she suddenly transforms one night into a human/vampire hybrid, an ash. An ash is the result of a hookup between human and vampire and the change occurs after roughtly 20 years. But the thing is: ash are always male and Charlie is absolutely a woman! She is brought to the Hive, the complex where ash are supposed to live and serve the vampires. After a brutal culling, because there are not enough beds and too many ash. Charlie is not excused from this so she will have to train and learn how to kill and fight for her place in the Hive. Fortunately she has a trainer in stoic and sexy Ryder, head of the Enforcers of the Hive. Plus she has a new good friend in her roomie, Jayden.I kept on reading, even when I was as repulsed as Charlie was by the brutal culling and all. She finds her way in the Hive, but soon her life is in danger when it seems her blood is special and there is a price on her head.I enjoyed the story a lot. The characters were well written, loved the friendships Charlie had with Jayden and Tessa and the 'sexy six' (the enforcergroup of the Hive). When I neared the end of the book I immediately one-clicked the next, 'Anarchy', because I need to know the rest of the story! The reason I picked up this series is because I fell in love with Leia Stone's 'Fallen Academy' and discovered she had written this series with Jaymin Eve. Now I have another author on my TBR list.

Yet another MC with awesome smelling blood
Ash are the product of male vampires and humans, a hybrid that, I'm not really sure what the downside is to being a hybrid other than you're guaranteed to be male. Except for Charlie. All of a sudden, she can run fast, her hair looks great, and her skin is flawless... plus nothing satisfies her thirst. A rare unicorn in the vampire society who could rock the vampire and human world. But will she survive the culling? Here's what I didn't like: *Charlie's way of speaking, her narration, while definitely puts you in her mind and can immerse you, it quickly grew tiresome.*Jayden is your typical gay character.*Charlies doesn't respect Tessa's wishes.*Awesome smelling girl blood.*Adrenalin vs. Adrenaline. One is a prescription drug, the other is a natural hormone.*the description became repetitive, and it also felt like the author confused some descriptions for the others.*events that were on page didn't mesh with Charlie's memories afterward.*After the culling, the editing and prose took a nose dive and progressively became worse and worse.*SPaG and homonym errors.*all telling, no showingHere's what I liked: The five move combo! At first, I thought I'd found a guilty pleasure, and was willing to overlook some things, such as Charlie's voice and the misuse of Adrenalin, but the style quickly morphed into something I don't enjoy.

Wanted to like it
What a shame! The premise of this book was great, but I just couldn't take to the heroine, the dialogue was gut wrenching and repetitive, I don't know if my kindle would have survived if I'd have read "for reals", "legit" or anything ending with "ass" again.Bored of the whole centuries old vampire (or part vampire in this case) falling for a whiny 21 year old with literally no redeeming qualities except for being "hot".I really wanted to like this but I just hated the lead characters and dialogue. One last note, a few too many things reminded me of Chicagoland Vampires which is a hundred times better than this

Vampires with a Difference
I was absorbed in the book virtually from the beginning. The relationship between the vampires and their lower class 'Ash' who fight to the death every year in the hope of getting to live in servitude to the vampires. The introduction of an Ash female who has an immediate impact on the senior Ash who form the security services to protect the vampires give and the vampires themselves. No more story spoilers but this is a very well constructed and we'll written book that will strongly appeal to anyone who likes a vampire story. I loved it from start to finish and eagerly await starting book 2 to continue the story.

I 💖 Jaymin!!
This was the first book on by Jaymin Eve that I ever read and I can honestly say it started an unhealthy obsession! I had always read girly love novels and one day fancied something totally different and stumbled across Ash! Well...i devoured this book with indecent haste and then cried for a good hour because I needed to wait on the next instalment. Jaymin has a talent for created real and loveable characters. I can always find a personal connection to at least one of her characters in every book. And did I mention the sexy six!!!!! WOW...i need to meet the men these were based on...it would def be bye bye hubby!!!

Really enjoyable
Really enjoyed this which I have to say, I wasn't sure I would or not. I liked that they expressed the main FL had issues with the situation thrust upon her, but didn't dwell on it so much that you were just bored and unsympathetic - after all, it is all fictional! I liked the interaction and relationships that were developed, they didn't feel rushed or underexposed nor did they feel like they were too dull to care about and all the characters were different but likeable, Did find myself chuckling a lot at some of the expressions in it - very nice humour amongst a gruelling situation for the female lead.Def worth a read and will be following for the next in the series!
