Highly disappointing.
Heel does not have enough inward taper so boots "flip flop" unless tied real tight. Worst tongues of any boots I've owned, they bunch up and pinch the front of your ankle joint. I can't wear them any more tried them for a week never got better. I plan to take them to cobbler to see if we can cut the tongues loose and narrow them so they don't wrinkle up and pinch. Left boot mocassin toe sewn on crooked so looks stupid compared to right, this I could deal with since they are work boots and it is cosmetic.I want to support USA made products but hard to swallow the bill of $225 bucks on shoes that are painful to wear and fit loose in the heel.Highly disappointed!!!!

Fits like a glove, water tight, Made in USA by Union Workers
Amazing boots. Out of the box the leather was a little stiff but I used Obenauf’s Heavy Duty Leather Preservative on them once and now they fit like a glove. I work Pipeline in the hills of WV so I needed something that would be water/mud proof, with good traction for the hills, and feel good all day and these are the best boots I’ve found. Made in USA by Union workers. Highly recommend.Note* this is not a paid ad, and I received no compensation for this review.

Not what I thought.
Too small, I’ve been trying to find thorogoods in a particular style for months now and I got these as a substitute. EE is too narrow in toe box. Also, the boot arrived with several scratches and defects!!! This is in no way and indictment of Thorogood, these seem like they may be factory seconds or something... returning!

Great shoe
The fit was spot on. Nice laces. They stay tied all day with a single knot. Very comfortable from the beginning. The oddest tongue ever. It takes several wearings requiring you to hand form the tongue around your upper foot before it takes a normal shape. Bizarre. Highly recommend this shoe. MADE in USA!

Ridiculously comfy!
The most comfortable boots ever!! Very well made and identically matched. Get some decent wool socks and you're golden (doesn't have to be fancy expensive).Don't know why some complained about the tongue; you just have to ensure its flattened and creased on the sides when you lace up the first week or so of wear and it'll stay.My only complaint is that they RUN VERY LARGE. My foot is literally 11.5 inches long and I wear a 13 or 12 in everything else. But I had to get the 11.5 size boot. To be fair, I think the sizing is like this for most work/safety boots and boots with no laces like cowboy boots.Lastly, don't oil or wax them! Wait several months or more to at least to break in since many of those will clog up the pours or attract dirt and look bad. They're already 'x-stream waterproof' but if you're really soaking them everyday then you probably already know you need bees wax or something. If you're unsure, then stay away.

Heaviest dumbest steel toe boots every.
These are the worst steel toe boots every. The ankle support cuts into my skin. Boots weigh 4lbs each which is ridiculously to heavy. Feel as if I’m walking around with weights on. Shoes look way to large for the size they really are. Thourgood shoes are a good product but I guess every name brand will have loser products and theses shoes are definitely one. Do not purchase.

Boots lasted 20 months! Now just need resoled
I've had these thorogood boots for 20 months. I weigh 245lbs. And I'm an electrician (IBEW 56). I wore these boots every work day and most nights and weekends. (Yard work etc) tips for these boots. You will have to mess with the tongues until they break in. If it hurts a spot then move it. That easy. Took me 2 or 3 days to break mine in. I changed the gel insert ever 2 months ish. I put olive oil on them b4 and after I pour concrete pads. And randomly throughout the year. Once the soles wear out on the bottom you can actually have them replaced for 90$. I just bought my 2nd pair and will send my 20 month old boots to thorogood to get resoled.

Worth it
I’ve had these boots for a month. They fit as expected, the leather is soft out of the box. These are heavy boots, though not too heavy, in my opinion. I have treated the leather with a quality leather oil, and they became slightly darker. They look great, I wear them with jeans and a white dress shirt for work and they look good. When I need to get into heavy work they have held up well and the leather doesn’t mark up under heavy construction work. I would recommend these boots, despite the high price. They are worth it.
