Wearing jewelry is essential to helping women developed their own style. For women wishing to create a look that's unique, the last thing they'll want to invest money in is mass produced pieces of jewelry. It's for this reason alone, learning the skills needed for making silver jewelry could prove extremely beneficial. When it comes to making such pieces you need to know where to purchase the right kinds of supplies. In this book not only do we discuss what's needed to start your own silver jewelry making venture but also provide several projects you may want to try out. We also recommend you attend a silver jewelry-making course if you can as well. If you're having problems finding courses we highly recommend you look online for what you need. You may even find an online course that enables you to learn in the comfort of your own home. As a beginner, the kind of course you should be looking for is one, which covers the basics. The kinds of skills this course should be teaching you relate to soldering cutting, shaping and texturing the silver plus polishing it. Also look for courses that teach you skills such as making jump rings, hooks and clasps for earrings. Finally what you should be looking for in a course is one that'll allow you to make a number of different pieces of jewelry from silver. The actual process of turning a piece of silver into a piece of jewelry is not only very technical, but also allows your artistic side to flourish. Once you've finished making silver jewelry either for yourself or for someone else, can prove extremely satisfying, especially as you watch the piece develop and grow. The final sections contain larger projects, like earrings, necklaces, and a ring. Great Background and Projects
This book goes through the basics of making silver jewelry. While it does not take the place of a class, it can help you master the background information so that you can focus on the hands-on portion in class. For example, the author goes over what tools are required. There are several kinds of pliers that are good to have when you're starting out, such as flat nose and needle nose pliers to name a few. There is also a jeweler's metal saw and different files that are discussed as well. This book will give you pointers on which version of these tools you should get and what to look for when purchasing these tools. Hammers, wire, and of course protection for your eyes such as safety goggles are also discussed in detail in this book. After a thorough grounding on tools has been provided, the book moves on to give the basics on the materials that should be used, like silver wire and sheet silver. There is also a thorough discussion on different kinds of clasps that you can purchase to finish off your pieces. Even if you don't plan on making your own jewelry, it's great to learn the different kinds of clasps, their names, and why they're used in a particular style of jewelry. When the tool discussion and materials information is completed, the author of this book launches into the different techniques. Here is where you will really appreciate the need for some one on one personal instruction or a class. Silver jewelry makers work with heat hot enough to melt metal, so it's important to learn from someone who knows how to do this safely and expertly. After talking about techniques, there are some sample projects that looks fun and beautiful. This is a great book to learn some terminology and figure out the next steps to learn how to make jewelry. I received a discount on this product in exchange for an honest review.

Illustrations would have helped A LOT
There is a lot of information in this book (Kindle edition) that is useful. It goes through the different tools needed, materials needed and differences in materials, such as dead soft wire vs. spring hard wire. It goes through some of the more common, non-amateur techniques in jewelry making, including soldering and hammering. Since they do go into more of the difficult things, not everyone will have the tools and pieces needed. I make a good bit of jewelry, mostly wire, but i don't have a kiln or torch to melt down silver to cast. This is a decent book for a specific type of jewelry making, which it does kind of give away in the title. It really is a step by step guide, literally each paragraph starting with Step 1, Step 2...The projects in this sound beautiful, unfortunately there are absolutely no illustrations or pictures to show either the steps or maybe more importantly, what the end product should look like. Just a basic sketch would give the reader some confidence that they had read the directions correctly. If i ever get the money to get the pieces needed for some of the techniques and projects in this book, i'll reread it. Until then, it's in my Kindle's archived section. I did get this book at a discount for reviewing it, but i have noticed that is usually on sale or free on Amazon if you get the Kindle version.

A lot of info about tools, techniques, etc...but, no pictures. Would be nice if there were photos to go along with.

Wonderful Guide for the Beginner Jewelry Maker!!!
Jewelry Making: An Easy & Complete Step By Step Guide to silver jewelry making by Janet Evans was so much fun to read. It was well written and easy to read and to follow. The first couple chapters are on Tools and Materials you will need to start making silver jewelry. Some things you will need to have prior to starting your first silver jewelry projects are pliers, a mat to rest the beads and coil on, silver jewelry pieces/mounts/fittings, beads or gems, and patience. After you get through the tools and materials, Janet Evans talks about the different methods of making silver jewelry like melting silver, enameling, and soldering. Once you have read up on all the different ways to make jewelry, there are a few projects that are described in detail in the end of the book. For each project the author lists the tools and materials you will need to complete the project as well as detailed steps to follow. Janet Evans also includes photos, that although they are small, they do help guide you with the project. I can't wait to get started making my own silver jewelry and this book Jewelry Making: An Easy & Complete Step By Step Guide to silver jewelry making is a wonderfully complete guide for any beginner jewelry maker. I was offered this item for free or at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review based on my own personal use of the product, which this is.

but i always thought that it is a very fun and interesting project because you can do it the ...
I downloaded this ebook because i am very crafty person and i am always looking for new inspiration on how to keep my hands occupied. I have never tried jewelry making, but i always thought that it is a very fun and interesting project because you can do it the way you like it, and failure is almost impossible if you follow basic steps. This book is very well written, and i love the occasional picture that author used, however, i wish these pictures were larger. I am visual person and step by step tutorials or clear pictures can be very helpful, and i often decide from a picture whether or not i would like to make something, rather than have to imagine it. Especially right now, when i still have no idea of how to do things, but i would like to get visual examples. Otherwise this book is very well compiled, author organized it into several chapters, talking about different jewelry making methods, and tools you will need for jewelry making. Then there are several projects with pretty clear instructions on how to make it - but again, one star down because of lack of pictures! I wish there were more pictures, preferably with each recipe. Do not forget to be Creative! - so remember, you can't go wrong, because you just make it your own! I received this ebook for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Perfect for beginners!
Silver Jewelry Making: An Easy and Complete step by step guide is perfect for anyone who is interested in making silver jewelry. It is a very thorough book that explains everything and anything you may need to make your own creations. The book starts off by describing all of the tools you will need, things like pliers, soldering torch and a vice grip. Then it gives a great explanation of all of the different types of wires and clasps you may use as well. It continues to explain different techniques used to give your pieces more of a unique look and create your own custom style. I did like that book not only told me the tools I would need but it actually gave directions on how to make numerous pieces, like earrings and necklaces. I did get the book in kindle form, which is fantastic! t really helps when I'm out and about looking for the specific tools to and I can show a picture or have a quick reference. I would recommend this book for anyone who is aspiring to be a jewelry designer or wanting to try something new. I did receive the book at a discount or for free for my unbiased review. Disappointed
Very basic text, no pictures or diagrams. It maybe cheap but there are better books available for a good price.

Good details, but no pics to show what the author is talking about
There seem to be very thorough and definitive, but the lack of pictures made it hard to understand what the author was thinking about.

Good for the price
It's obviously a leader into her other books and doesn't go into a lot of detail. Nevertheless, it's useful as a shopping list for tools and to get some idea of what's involved. At such a low price, you can't really go wrong as a beginner.

Could be an interesting hobby or more
I was curious about this because this is one of those hobbies that can be made into a business. Inside is everything that you need to getting started I can see how if you can start making pieces then you could visit craftmarkets etc. If this is you then you could have fun with this.
