Leather Crafts: In-Depth Information on Tools, Materials, and Techniques (Idiot's Guides) Kindle Edition

This book has good background information (in chapter 1), but it goes downhill from there. It names a number of different techniques and applies them to various projects, but doesn't tell you HOW to do anything--or what to look out for (to be sure you're using proper technique), or what to do if things don't go as expected, which is what I was hoping to find.For example, one project says to "install a snap," but doesn't talk about how to do that (or even what the tool you need looks like). I bought the book thinking it would walk you through identifying and using the tools and through effective installation, but instead it just says "do x, now do y," Um, if I knew how to do the steps already, why would I bother buying this book?If you already have an idea of what you're doing, this book might be good for you as there are a number of patterns that include various techniques, but if you are tying to sort out HOW to do things (and don't already have some idea), it might be a good idea to keep looking.

I found this book to be very interesting. The book talks about the leather types, the useful tools necessary, and techniques, all very good. However, when you get to the part about the downloadable templates, the web address is incorrect, so you cannot get to the templates to make the projects.

I don’t write reviews normally. But, I have to here! Great color photos showing tools, and procedures. As a guidebook for “ idiots.” You can only walk out of this book as, “I know what I’m doing and know longer an idiot.”

Not what I expected but the book is a good place to start as a beginner.

Book looks okay but it is impossible to pull up any of the on line templates. I keep getting redirected to a book site in England. I was stoked to make the tool bag but I wont cut the $135 bucks worth of leather without the template. I know how to make a book mark, bleh. If they promise templates we should get templates. Book was a B- or 3 to 3.5 stars, The templates would get it over a 4.

I believe they should add how to lace leather projects.

Noce book for beginners

I haven't done any of the projects yet but the instructions seem very clear & comprehensive. The basic techniques are taught first followed by a good selection of projects gradually increasing in difficulty. I'm glad I bought it.

This is a very good book easy to follow instructions lots of photos you can download templates just the job

Well laid out and written, lots of pictures with patterns available to download online. Would suit beginners and improvers.

Like my first book I was expecting more , but have a good ideas who to make it different crafts
