I really got into this book. The Holy Spirit used it to speak to me personally many times as I read. I highlighted a lot & wrote notes for later rereading. The story of Elijah is so powerful & the book exactly coincided with the current sermon series given by my pastor.The book was written so well I had a hard time putting it down. I was captivated by it!

Really enjoyed this writer's take on the life of Elijah. Would be a great book for a group study.

Great book on the Prophet of Fire, Elijah. Some great content about Elijah and the lessons he learned.

In many ways Elijah was an ordinary man, however, he lived in extraordinary time in Israel history, he believed and witnessed a extraordinary holy God that left him undone. Each chapter starts with a scripture in Elijah's life and how it applies with us today by showing Christ and his redemption. Elijah dealing with a evil King who came from the line of David and his wife, who worshipped other gods who were leading God's people to death is a great example for us today as a warning and as a encouragement.The warnings for us is to know the Lord your God. Elijah warning to King Ahab and to the people of Israel was complete and left no question that it was from God. Know that the Lord is holy, humble yourself and see your pride for what it really is.The encouragement comes in the form that Elijah was often misunderstood and at many times in his minstry felt alone, that he was the only one. There is much insight in this study that I really appreciate and if you are one that likes the study of Old Testament prophets, you too, will appreciate how God walked with Elijah during this time of depression. Elijah's zeal for the Lord and the complancey of God's people was a great tension for Elijah and caused him some despair in spite of all that God did which I think is true for us today. Resting in who He is, is so needed for our souls

I have read this book three times and am always inspired by it. Mr Kendall explains the title character and shows us that Elijah was very human. He relates to the reader how we too are human but that God can use imperfect people any way.I am sure that I will read it again when I am in the midst of another pity party

My first Christian book that I ever read. It changed my life gave me hope and it helped to get to know better our Heavenly Father. I can nit recommend this book enough!

Reading this book is like having a conversation with a sage father. Pastor Kendall speaks straight to the point with insights that make you wonder why you never saw the passage that way before. Simple is not what the Bible is but he lays it simply before you so that you cannot be excused of not knowing what to do.

R.T Kendall is a great teacher of the word. I read his books ''GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD'' and i have since been drawn to his books and never been let down. A skillfully written, this book!This book highlights what our God is able to do with the power of the holy spirit. How God used Elijah, who was a man ''of like passions'' to do mighty works in his time.All in all, a great book from a great teacher.
