One of my favorites indie Shonen stories out there!!
Apple black starts off strong with a clearly defined character motivation, badass designs, and glimpses into the world of Eden that pique the interest. Can't wait to see more of Black Bottom Island and more of Sano's powers!!

Amazing!
This book is very well structured & has a good pace. Just in this first book, we’re filled in with so much history & so much has happened. No too much to where we are confused & overwhelmed, but just enough to keep up on the edges of our seats. Definitely a great read. Very likable characters as well.

great read with minor errors
Great it has a very cool main character and interesting world. Nice number of chapters to keep you reading for a while, i did find minor spelling or grammar errors but only a few. Im very interested in the next book release and this and bully eater are amazing on Saturday-am and made me want to subscribe for the 5 dollars a year but found out i cant read all the chapters and can only read the ones made from the point where you subscribed so now i have to wait on the manga book releases i hope they fix that one day

Amazing new manga!
Amazing work from and upcoming mangaka. The art in the chapters is top notch, the character designs are interesting and as the cast grows there is a diversity there that you dont find in most manga. Give it a try!

It's Definitely a Keeper!
I finished Apple Black a few hours ago in under 3 hours. I wanna say 2 and a half to be exact. And here's my 100% honest review of it.Apple Black by Odunze "Whytmanga" OguguoThis is a very good comic. The cover art is very well illustrated and hard to take your eyes off of. It's that type of cover that has you analyzing every little detail. The back of the book however, is pixelated. Maybe the original artwork was too small and was stretched to fit the entirety of the back. The book is bigger than your normal, 7.5 x 5 in. manga tankobon. It measures at 9 x 6 in. I noticed that the back cover overlaps the side view of the book also.Since it's an OEL (Original English-language) Manga; Westernized comic, it reads from left-to-right, rather than right -to-left. The art in the manga itself is very well drawn. Tones are included which give it a good effect. Anatomy can be slightly off here and there but nothing that get's in the way of reading.A majority of the pages are moderately pixelated. Not as much as the back cover, mind you. But nonetheless, you can still see the art clearly and still be impressed by it's quality. As said in other reviews, there are several grammatical errors but again, it's nothing that takes you away from the story. You just put things together and it's as if the error was never there. The text also appears to be pixelated in some panels. On the brighter side, some conversations got very interesting and even offered some laughs and smiles. While others included some smart and witty remarks from different characters, which I found awesome.Onto the story, I've been following Odunze for a long while now so reading the first few chapters was nothing new to me, but I still enjoyed reading them over, especially since I can now view them as much as I want, when I want, without the use of a computer. Some things can be confusing. I didn't quite understand the concept of power known as "Impulse", A spell known as "Nirvana" or the two walls, "Ivory" and "Ebony" Although it was for the most part, explained, I still ended up puzzled. Maybe it wasn't explained well enough, or I read to fast. There were a lot of speeches and long conversations and I found myself skipping around here and there. Maybe that's why I didn't quite get certain things but I plan to re-read it sooner or later. The story features things I either have or haven't seen before in a story, which is good! It showcases a feeling of freshness that I myself, haven't seen in a little while. Some pages have you wondering what's next also. I'm so used to reading right-to-left in my manga that my eyes will skim the next page, rather than the page you open up to, thus spoiling some things to me a little early. My only real grievances with this manga are the fight scenes. To me, the fight scenes are hard to understand and yes, while they are illustrated very well, I just can't seem to get a hold of what's happening. There's one fight in particular that in one panel, I couldn't understand what was happening at all. Later in the book, there's another fight yet in those panels as well I couldn't keep up with what was occurring.I found it cool that in different pages and towards the end of the book, concept art and information on certain characters were included. That stood out in my eyes. Odunze's countless artworks of the manga were also included and brought a smile to my face because they really give you a sense of how good the story is and how much it has developed. In the beginning of some chapters, the first few pages are colored which I felt made it feel like an actual manga, so-to-speak.The book can be completed in roughly 3 hours. And it has a good lasting appeal. I recommend reading once for the good story, then thoroughly reading a second time, to analyze the finer details of the art and story. That's what I plan to do ^^. I give this book a 4/5. a 4.5/5 if I could lol. It ended on a serious note, and I'm currently longing for volume 2. It'll be a long time before it releases, but the wait will be well worth it.Good job Odunze and continue the awesome job on your art!

Well written, well drawn, great manga!
Not sure what the other reviewer was talking about with typos or letter bubbles but this book is great! Great art to follow an awesome story, not like anything out there. Definitely recommend this manga!

Art, story, and characters all loveable
I found the author on YouTube and thought I would check out his Manga. I am so glad I did! As an aspiring Manga artist myself I really appreciate all the work he put into this. All the characters are unique and loveable, the story holds your interest, and the world that Odunze creates is like Harry Potter meets Naruto. I'd recommend to anyone who likes shonen manga

Manga Fantastico!
This Manga has thrilled, intrigued and amused me. The characters are well written, Symon in particular intrigued me very much in fact I hope to know more about him in the second volume. I suggest this Manga to anyone becouse it moves away from the typical two-dimensional stories that are often proposed to us to offer instead an interesting and complex narrative.I hope to read many more of Odunze Oguguo's works

Can't recommend...
I just randomly found this book and bought it since it sounded like something new...But oh boy. It's so amateur. I'm sorry but the writing is aweful (specially the dialog) the flow of the story is just off, the setting feels random and still kinda generic. And the artstyle seems copied together from bleach and naruto (there is one character that just looks EXACTLY like ichigo from naruto)I would give the book two stars, because it does seem like the artist put a lot of work into it and really tried. So i hope their future work will be better. But then comes the production of the book and it's just one of those print-on-demand things, i think. the images are kinda pixaleted and the book feels cheap :/
