LUCKY CHARM is a stand alone read with a HEA. It is quite sexy if that is an issue for you. The hero's family is believed to be cursed by an enemy's ancestor many generations ago. The men are cursed to never find peace and true love. They all believe it because their love lives have all been tragic. The hero was in love with the heroine when they were in high school. Wanting to spare her the pain of misfortune he breaks it off with her. He does marry a girl from college that he got pregnant. No problem with the curse because he is not in love with her. Their child is around 10 when they finally divorce, she lives with her mother and there is a lot of typical fighting between the parents with the child in the middle.The mother finds a new love and they marry. She reluctantly allows the daughter to stay with her dad while she honeymoons in Europe for a month. She is now 11 and a very intelligent child. She loves her father and spending time with him. She is a very well adjusted child. and now 15 years later his first love returns to town. I LOVED this heroine. She was one hot cookie, she knew what she wanted and she had no problems letting him know that she wanted him and she intended to by-pass the curse and spend the rest of her life with him. He still fears for her and even though he wanted her he wanted her safe.She is a writer of the paranormal genre. She comes to town with the intention of debunking the curse. It is a small town so there is a lot of fear and misinformation that she is going to have to get through to get to the truth. The family that did the curse is still in town also. they rule through fear. I thought this was a good story. There was mystery, adventure, bad guys, and one evil old woman. But, love conquers all. It was an entertaining read and I definitely recommend it. It was a little different kind of story for Ms. Phillips but it was an easy read and still good. It is very sexy so if that is a problem for you be advised. I thoroughly enjoyed it.I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. He thought by ending his relationship with his high school sweetheart, Gabrielle, whom he loved, and marrying Holly's mom, Marlene, whom he didn't love, he wouldn't be affected by the curse. He was wrong.Gabrielle Donovan is a popular author who debunks myths. Thanks to her librarian friend, Sharon Merchant, she is giving a lecture on Curses: Irrational Psychological Suggestion at the Perkins-Stewart Public Library. Her next book will be on the Corwin Curse. She plans to research the curse in the towns of Perkins and Stewart. Mary Perkins, mayor of Perkins, is a direct ancestor to the original Mary Perkins who cursed the Corwins. Mary Perkins is willing to win the mayor's race by any means necessary. She doesn't welcome Gabrielle's interference. Hank Corwin, Derek's father, doesn't appreciate Gabrielle reminding the folks about the curse. He feels she is humiliating his family and plans to speak out at the lecture.Gabrielle plans to seduce her high school sweetheart, whom she thought loved her. She hasn't been able to move past Derek Corwin. She needs to know where she stands with him. Gabrielle let Derek walk away from her fourteen years ago. She won't let him walk away again.This is a light, contemporary romance perfect for a quick read. The plot is solid. There is a subplot or two which is not resolved. The characters are likeable. There are two stories. The first is the romance between Gabrielle and Derek. The second story is Sharon Merchant, who is being blackmailed, and her fiance, Richard Stern, who is running in the mayor's race against Mary Perkins. Both stories are sewn seamlessly together in the HEA ending. Over all, a good, first book in the series, and a solid four star rating.

Gabrielle and Derek's story is a well written book about second chances. Teen lovers who separate because one feels they should free the other because of some event or history. They reconnect with Gabrielle determined to not let anything or anyone interfere with their love story. There are mysterious events that occur but Gabrielle is steadfast in pursuing her love for Derek. And I'm not even going to talk about the precocious daughter of Derek. There are lots of graphic sex scenes that are well written for those sensitive to such scenes.

I absolutely loved this story! Actually it's a two for one. Yep, you got it. There are two stories within this story. The first is the romance between Gabrielle and Derek, which is so intense, but also fun, and a bit scary at times. The second story is Sharon Merchant, who is being blackmailed, and her fiance, Richard Stern, who is running in the mayor's race against Mary Perkins, the wicked witch of the town who thinks her wealth entitles her to do what ever she wants, no matter who she hurts in the process. Both stories are sewn seamlessly together, and by the end, we are treated with a very beautiful HEA ending.This story has everything it takes to take a story from a good story, to a phenomenal read. Holly, Derek's 11 yr old daughter, was a real highlight for me, as was her grandfather's old Bassett hound dog. I loved the fact that the women in this story were strong, stubborn characters who were willing to take on the town's witch, no matter what the cost to set things right for the people who've been terrorized for decades. I loved all of the characters, in fact. I thought they, and all of the situation that arose felt real and believable.

I loved Gabrielle, the heroine of the book. She was strong, confident and someone who doesn't admit defeat when she knows she is right. She has been in love with Derek since they were little. Derek broke up with Gabby after their prom due to his belief in the family's curse. Males on his family are fated to lose their loves and money if they fall in love.The two have come back to their hometown after 14 years away. Derek is a divorced father of a 11 year old daughter, Holly. Gabby is writing a book about the Corwin curse and to debunk the belief of the curse and to drive some sense into Derek.Gabby and Holly's bond is instant and beautiful to see. They become close very quickly. I loved Holly as she was so happy, go lucky and exuberant little girl.The story behind Gabby best friend, Sharon was part of the story too which was a delight. Loved how Gabby helped Sharon to take charge of her life and not let her past interfere in her future. Loved their friendship and how they both were each other's support system and had each other's backs.I adored this book and looking forward to reading the love stories of the Corwin cousins and how they overcome their belief in. The curse.

I downloaded this as it was free and a good way to try out an author I had never read before. I did quite enjoy it as there was a definite plot and some strong characters. I also liked the way she explored the idea that belief in a so called curse can be reinforced and magnified until everything bad that happens to you can be blamed on it.But for me this book wasn't awesome or full of suspense. There are other authors who do this genre so much better. And I wouldn't bother paying nearly £4 for the next book in the series

I absolutely loved this first book in this series and I can’t wait to get the rest of them. Really do like this author as I’ve read her books on other sites before and I don’t know how I missed this book or series so thank-you to the author and amazon for giving this book for free as I would have missed out on a new series I’m sure I’m going to love. Has the right storyline, awesome characters and sweet and sexy romance to keep you glued to your kindle. I would absolutely recommend this book

This book has an ok plot, but the author wrote a romance novel where the two main characters are together within the first two chapters. Where is the tension? There isn't any which is a huge problem. I kept putting down this book again and again out of boredom with it and finally just gave up on it.
