The best axe puck on the market by far.
For years I’ve been searching for the right progression in sharpening stones my axes. I love restoring vintage axes and I use them frequently splitting wood and felling trees. Ive tried all sorts of axe pucks over the years, but almost all of the others on the market are too coarse. Norton, lansky, GB, and I even made my own by cutting a bench stone I had. I just wasn’t happy with any of them. But this puck is great. In JIS standards is a about 400/700. The Blend of abrasives in this is really unique. For touching up an edge all you need is the white/fine side. You can remove small chips and bring back a dull edge very quickly with the coarse side. It’s a fast cutting stone, it’s hard, and slow wearing, doesn’t dish quickly. Doesn’t load up much at all. When it starts to I just dunk it back in the water and rub it with my finger and any metal particles will just rub off. I personally still like to finish on something s little finer, but it’s not necessary. The fine side of this gives a hazy finish that’s totally adaquate for most purposes, and it’s shaving sharpe off the fine side of this stone. I made my own 1000/3000 from a cheap bench stone I had and I use that for finishing and bringing the edge up to a semi mirror polish followed by a strop with green compound. All in all, baryonyx absolutely nailed it with this puck. For how hard wearing this thing is, I believe it will last forever. I might pick up a spare just in case though.

Axe puck...
After reading some reviews from other websites this park was recommended. It is suggested that you can use oil or water. I tend to use water because, I believe using oil gets the stone a bit more dirty especially, if you’re caring it on your person water dries out leaving those stains were oil will be a bit messy if you’re carrying it.

Does the job.
Put a razor edge back on an axe I unfortunately had to use to clear some roots when digging. I like how the edge is squared instead of tapered. Makes for an easier, more comfortable, and safer grip. When. I use it, I pre soak for about 15 minutes, and keep dipping in water.

Nice
Finer that the Lansky, so it seems more useful for dialing in an edge. Works well with water, rather than messy oil. Not sure how many years it will take to wear it out, but I'd buy again when needed.

Best stone on the market!
I bought this thinking it would at least be good for camping and field sharpening, but I have used mine to sharpen 4 Large knives 1 axe and 10 broadheads to a razor edge (from factory edge) and the logo has still not worn off the stone!

Fits nicely in hand - very ergonomic. Doesn’t create a razor edge.
I’m new to sharpening - the gray side of this unit does a decent job of sharpening. It will not however get you a razor sharp edge. You need to have a decent oil stone as well. An expert would probably disagree with my assessment. Decent product/not overly impressed. Fits really nicely in hand though.

Upsetting
I’m very upset because it is a really good quality sharpening puck but mine arrived with a big chip in it. When it arrived there was nothing in the box to protect it from damage. It was just thrown in the box.

Great field tool.
This and a file is all you need in the field. Good weight.
