Royal Laminator (PL2100),Blue

I bought this to help apply Dry Photoresist film to blank copper laminated circuit boards. Understanding of course that my application is by no means what the unit is designed to handle. But for 25 bucks I thought it was worth a try. Besides, when it dies there will be a handful of good parts I can salvage.I just received the laminator today, but I can tell you that it will handle 1/16" circuit boards--with a good bit of coaxing. The thinner 1/32" boards go right through, but the thicker ones require a constant push or pull pressure to get it to run through smoothly. This also means that the board has to be at least 6 inches long so you can feed it in and have room to pull a bit as the last part comes out.I opened up the unit to see if I could adjust the roller pressure, but without any luck. The construction is very simple, and the surface of the rollers have enough give that you can use it for circuit boards. Although I expect that will pretty much ruin it for any "normal" use.I was able to apply the film to a single sided board on the first try. I looked pretty good but I ran it through two more times just for good measure. I have not yet exposed a board from this machine.So far, so good. I am happy with the purchase and will use the machine until it cries Nevermore.

I do not write negative reviews often but this is a product that lives up to all of the negative reviews. Received laminator and let it heat up about 10 minutes and lights were on. Inserted an 8.5x11 sheet of paper into 3 mil pouch and it started through but caught somewhere inside and crinkled into ruin. After cooling off I pulled out paper with great difficulty since the "release" did not work at all. I next let it heat up and inserted a 5 mil pouch with paper inserted. Same result - crinkled terminally. I tried it a third time and another terminal failure. I then notified Amazon I was shipping it back and after they received it I received a full refund after a couple of weeks. I would absolutely advise listening to all the negative reviews and never, never buy this product. A much better product is Scotch TL902 and it works great for less.

every time when i insert paper size A4 (8.5 x 11 ) printer size paper . the sheet get stuck inside and never comes out , release button doesn't work, and product over heat when it's just turn into a green light shows you u can use the product for small work like laminate cards size as a driver license its ok, but after few min' more when i insert more cards plastic comes out so hot u can barely touch the card and plastic so flaxible like its melting or something i have to keep the card on a flat surface because when it get cold it stays at the same shape .it's better to invest a lil more money and get something better for a long term.

This little laminator does its job fairly well considering the price.I have to let it warm up much longer than the "go" light suggests, and sometimes I have to put lamination through a few times to get it to finish.Otherwise, great! Light and easy to travel with.

It is a little noisy and is rather particular how the laminating sheets are fed in. Sheets have to be moved quite far into the laminator by hand before the auto feed takes hold.Update Aug 24, 2013. Going to have to drop a star here. Five months and over 200 laminations the unit is taking 20-30 min to warm up and has experienced 'stuck' laminations' twice. Thinking about replacing it.

For the price I don't think you can get a better laminator. I've had it for months and it has worked well. I am a special education teacher so as a result I laminate a lot of pocket charts for my kids. It has stood the test of time for the first couple of months, and still works well.

I had wanted to get a laminator for a long time, but thought they were expensive. I used one similar to this at church and it functioned well so I looked into prices and found it was reasonably priced. I've been happy with my purchase thus far and have used about half of a 100 pack of sheets. Wish it didn't take so long to warm up (its not that long, but long enough that sometimes I forget what i am doing!) Thankfully, the smell of 'hot' is just enough that I notice it and remember!

Couldn't find any inexpensive laminator in local stores like Wal-Mart, Office Depot, Staples. My Duck laminator from 2003 finally died. This one works great. It was a little "fumey" the first time as expected. Once it heated for the first time all the residual manufacturing cotaings cooked off and it was fine. My GPS did the same thing the first time I used it. This one is a great value for the price. Laminated my post card signs the first time without needed to send through again.
