I always have to have cup of water available to me. I always used the plastic, acrylic cups but I was very annoyed at how easily they broke. You drop it once and it's all done - I went through so many of them. When I was looking for a replacement cup, I saw metal tumbrels and thought that would be great because it should out last all the plastic cups I keep buying. I finally decided to buy this one after comparing many reviews. When I got this cup, I immediately fell in love it! It keeps my water very cold for a long period of time. One evening, shortly after purchasing it, I filled the cup up with ice and water around 5 pm. By 7am the next morning I still had little ice chips floating around in it. That's impressive! There is no condensation on the outside of the cup, which is an absolute must. I can also leave the cup sitting in the hot sun or hot car, the outside will be very hot to the touch but the water will still be ice, ice cold. My only complaint is that the rubber gasket gets a little askew and causes the cup to leak when you tip it. It's an easy fix too get it back in place though. I did notice recently the metal on the lid started to separate from the plastic causing water to get trapped in the lid. I think this happened because someone kicked/stepped on my cup hard while getting into a boat. I took some food grade glue and sealed up the gap after I got the lid dried out.After having this cup for several months I decided I wanted to get another metal tumbler for my iced coffee I drink daily. This time I decided to go with another brand that was 2 cups for $26 that all 5 star ratings. I was trying to save a little money. Big mistake. Upon receiving the cups I washed them and put iced coffee in one. Immediately the outside of the cup became cold and after a while started to get condensation on it. Then I filled up the other cup with hot water and it became hot on the outside. They were NOT vacuum sealed. Who makes a metal cup, which is a conductor, without making it vacuum sealed!?!? One lid filled up with water too. After I realized the cups were garbage, I looked at all the ratings again online and noticed that all the reviews were "received discount in exchange for an honest review" Ughh... Needless to say, I returned them that same day and ordered another one of these.

I replaced the plastic straw with a stainless one from another Amazon Seller. I use this every day, all day for nearly 6 weeks and I've had SO SO SO SO many compliments on this! It's a great size, insulates well, stands up to hot, cold, acidic lemon, smoothies-whatever and fits well in my cup holder in my car (the small one and the big one). I've added stuff like Mio water enhancer and was concerned that it may stain and it's been perfect. I've been careful not to submerge it into water (per enclosed instructions-neither the cup not the lid)My only two unsavoury feelings are these: The inner part of the lid is plastic-though it's quite sturdy, and I've had no cause for concern, I'm hesitant as plastic things break eventually. I'm scared it might break one day and I won't have a replacement-but like I said, I worry about everything all the time, so if you're normal, you'll be fine with it and won't give it another thought. The second unsavoury feeling is that when you screw the lid on all the way, there's a bit of wiggle room, like the lid wiggles back and forth just a little bit. It's not a big deal, like no leaks or anything (well except the straw hole) but when it wiggles, I worry the plastic will break, so I'm careful when I screw the lid on-don't reef on it to close it, take care of it...Other point to mention is the inside of the cup is matt, not glossy. There's nothing wrong with that, just worth a mention. My added stainless straw has mildly scratched the inside bottom of the cup, like maybe two or three lines, not a big deal. considering how much I've used it and abused it, it's standing up remarkably well. I'm almost considering buying another-JUST IN CASE something happens. Like I said, I've had so many compliments and so many people want this now, I should buy them as gifts for Christmas!

I have used this cup every morning for a solid year of hot java enjoyment. It holds the coffee hot till the last sip. Have never tried with a cool drink but assume similar results. I remind anyone considering buying this cup that it is not a thermos. Don't expect a hot or cold drink after sitting for a day.If I must state a negative and a reason for my 4 star review it is because of the lid. While I clean as suggested by hand the lid tends to retain water. Even after hand drying and sitting overnight I find it leaks out water from around the plastic to stainless top joint. Somewhat worrisome in that I don't like the idea of soapy stale water leaking into my coffee. Therefore I now simply rinse the lid in hot water, hand dry and shake. The cup itself gets the normal dishwater washing by hand. No problems there. Other than a years worth of scratches it looks and works as well as when unpacked.
