Ghost (RUN SERIES): 1 Paperback – 1 Feb. 2018

An amazing story of self discovery, growing up and changing for the better. Ghost is a heart warming tale of a young boy who must overcome his memories of a traumatic experience, prejudice and turn his life around before its too late. The characters are so life-like that everyone will see a bit of someone they know in Ghost. It was a fabulous read and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out!

This is an exciting, well-paced and thought-provoking middle grade novel. For any child who is a great reader and thinker, but who perhaps is not exposed to enough outside their own privilege bubble, this might provide a useful insight into a family where mother and son is trying hard - but are up against challenges most of us never face. It does contain domestic violence and fear, so use cautiously with children who may have suffered this themselves or who are younger. Recommended for ages around 10+.

This book slaps you in the face and demands your attention right from the first few pages. It's a story of hope and finding the right path through life, especially when you haven't had the easiest start. Personally I loved it, and have now handed it to my 9 year to read for his opinion on whether it should be for Y6+ or if Y5 could read too. This book will challenge some, with an introduction to a violent father in the beginning of the book, but it is done in a sensitive and non sensational way, and very much in context to illustrate Ghost's challenges to be overcome in the story. You will leave the story uplifted, and all the richer for stepping into the shoes of another's life.

Moving contemporary story about a boy running away from who he was and towards what he wants to be. Really got me crying a few times. Can't wait for the next book in this series – the ending left me hanging

Loved this book. Hooked from the first chapter and read it in an afternoon. Great characters. Loved Coach and Lu. A real warming and heartfelt read. As the book says " show that you can't run away from who you are, but what you can do is run toward who you want to be" . Life lessons. Willbe recommending it to all 8+ readers.

This is an amazing book for 12-14 year olds. It’s great for making text-to-text (Hardball movie) and world connections for classroom instruction.

Un des livres les plus appréciés par ma fille de 11 ans cet été, malgré un niveau d’anglais assez élevé ( A2 minimum, mieux B1). C’est le premier d’une série de 4 livres du meme auteur, relatant les aventures de 4 jeunes qui courent dans une équipe d’athlétisme. Très amusant, brillant, parfaitement adapté aux collégiens, ma fille a déjà demandé à lire le 3 autres: bon signe.

Ghost is an excellent book as it vividly highlights how your passion can overcome the hardships and struggles of poverty and bullying. It emphasizes on determination, perseverance, hard work, friendship and standing up for one another which are vital in your growing up years . Truly a must read !
