too small for butter
I liked the looks of this butter dish. When we put a cube of butter in it, the lid would not go down all the way. This just makes a big mess by squishing butter in the lid. Our cubes of butter, in America are 1.5 inches wide. I thought that was standard and it would fit. WRONG ! A butter dish that won't hold butter is no use at all.

Beautiful, but quarter pound sticks of butter do not fit
This is a beautiful dish. It is elegant, sturdy and washes great in a dishwasher. The trouble with it is that in my area, the northwest U.S., pounds of butter are cut into quarters the shape of which do not fit this dish. They are too wide and too high. I will keep the dish to use on special occasions when I will take the time to trim the butter cubes to fit. I can't recommend this dish for everyday use, though.

Messy
This is a nice butter dish, except.... What I do not like about it is the lid fits inside the lip of the dish, therefore it gets messy with butter. So, you take the lid off and set it down on the table or counter, and you transfer butter wherever you set it. Perfect fit
This is just the right size for a stick of butter. Other reviews say it's too small, but this is a classic size, very well made, heavy duty. Simple yet elegant. Can't wait to use it for Thanksgiving dinner ❤️

Small top handle.
The handle is a bit too small to grip firmly. The slim size is pretty but makes it a bit hard to get the top off without bumping the butter and smearing it on the lid.

Doesn't work with American style sticks of butter
Wish I had known that this was made for some strange skinny stick of butter... This will not work with American style butter sticks.

Too narrow
This butter dish is too narrow. When putting the lid on it you will hit the side of the butter on the way down and muck the lid up with butter. Needs about another 1/2" to make it work well.

Too narrow
This dish is too narrow. It's pretty but every time I put the top on butter got smeared on the sides. Way too narrow. I wish I had returned it.
