CalDigit VR2 - Dual HDD Hardware RAID - eSATA, USB 3.0/2.0, FireWire 800 & 400 (8TB)

First of all, I need to throw props to Jonathan from CalDigit with the help setting up this beast of a system. He had all the patience in the world for me and within minutes I was completely set up and ready to go. This is how you keep customers. As for the build quality, I have had no issues, this thing is an absolute brick of a unit, and even though you can hear the fan in this thing going sometimes, it's not bothersome in the slightest.

solid construction...really nice.. easy to use ... responsive tech support would not send me software to use certain features ... only manual with dead links on website... no idea how old it is... really bummed I cant get software. no manual or software in box... Check website before buying... sad ...seems like a great unit... exactly what I was looking for. Why discontinued ..no idea.. Time will tell if drives hold out.. I had no idea it was so old.

I purchased this to use a a data drive for NGS bioinformatics work. Set it up as RAID 1 in about 5 seconds- partitioned to generate a share drive for a linux/windows dual boot environment and have been running it hard in terms of read write. Performs perfectly and is solid build quality. Note that mine came with the USB 3.0 cable in the box but manual did not state that was included so I had purchased another. Oh well... great product.

I've had problems with other manufacturer's products notably OWC/Mac Sales but these are flexible and sturdy. Quick response from tech support as well.

Good drives it works okay

Great product. Very useful status display in front. Been using it as a Raid array for a month now, and it seems robust.
