Matcha Green Tea Powder 1 oz loose tea sample

Bought to use in a cheesecake recipe that we've been enjoying for a year now using instant powder subsitutes...this is a reasonably-priced nice-sized sample to use. $5 shipping is a bit goofy for a soft 1-oz. packet of powder, but luckily I had a gift certificate. I look forward to trying different recipes with this. Cheesecake tastes good, a lot earthier/more organic now that we have the real matcha. I think I'll try making iced lattes now. Too bad it didn't come in the cute little round tin that they show it in...that was an appealing package but the resealable soft packet is nice too.

I did not brew tea with this matcha, I had purchased it for use in ice cream. I know green tea has a light flavor but when made into an ice cream, the egg way over powered it and so I don't think this is a great matcha if you are making the recipe from The Perfect Scoop. The color was not so vibrant and more of a sage green. Also it was packed in a foil packet, not a round tin as shown (so people know what they are getting)

I don't need fancy, high-grade matcha green tea, but I am interested in the alleged extra benefits of powdered vs. steeped green tea. I add this to my morning kale smoothies, and I did notice a bit of a pick-me-up. My only complaint is that I ordered the smallest size, and the package was a bit messy - the powder is very fine and gets everywhere when stored in a bag.

Maybe not ideal for brewing. But it's AWESOME for baking or making sweets. The price makes it almost a steal!!
