Artifact Puzzles - Kevin Sloan Burden of Formality Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle

I won't go into the detail about the incredible quality, the sensory experience of working these puzzles, and how delightful they always prove to be. This one is like all the others in that respect, but now that I have over two dozen APs, I had to write a review on this one. Ahh....the edges. If you like unique edges, this one is the most unique of them all! Usually I can get a feel for the edges pretty quickly; a pattern emerges, and then it's relatively easy to figure out how to find the rest of the edge pieces. However, with this puzzle, it's a bit different. Yes, eventually a pattern emerges, but expect still more surprises along the way with regard to the edge pieces.In addition, the internal "design" of the pieces when placed are a piece of art in themselves. Tara Flannery, the puzzle designer for this puzzle, outdid herself this time! I am utterly amazed at the design within the design of this puzzle. The edges are just a part of the whole, and the edges are remarkable. Hands down, Flannery is my favorite designer of all the Artifact puzzles. She's ingenious, creative, and highly talented. In essence, a rather complicated and beautiful design is created with the puzzle pieces within this puzzle.In any case, when working the puzzle, it took me a while to figure the edges out, longer than usual. Then when all finally came together, a most gorgeous frame was created, and as the puzzle pieces inside began to be placed, the whole puzzle just got even nicer. Although the image didn't call to me strongly, I'm SO glad I bought it. Because of the decorative edge and inner puzzle pieces-design, the whole puzzle pops, and I see it in a completely new light. I love going into the room where it's done and just gazing at it. The edges,internal structure, and the image work together to make quite a gorgeous piece of art.It's pleasant to work because of the various colors, so it's not monotonous - colors and shapes are clues to placement.There are a slew of whimsy pieces that are just cool, different, fun that create an over-all theme that runs through the image and the shapes, and that just adds to the beauty of this puzzle in addition to everything else. If you're vacillating for any reason on buying it, but you like surprises and unusual edges, you might be very happy you decided to bring it home.

I haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in a couple of decades--they were popular in the 70's--so I thought, why not? This is a gorgeous image and the wooden pieces are very well made. It comes in a nice wooden box with a slide opening at the top. That said, I'll tell you the truth--the edges are terribly difficult (for me) to find, as there are no obvious edge pieces. This is a difficult puzzle! I've only spent a couple of evenings on it, because I don't have that much spare time, but I get the feeling there are missing pieces. I could be wrong, and that will only come to light if I ever finish this puzzle. I bought it as I thought it would be a beautiful piece of art to have framed, when finished. At this rate, since I'm so out of practice with doing these puzzles, I might have to have someone help me with it!

It was quite great to discover that the cut seams actually form another picture (or, should I say, a pattern) on top of the actual art. I loved this puzzle! The pieces are sturdy and slide into each other easily, they smell of wood and overall feel high-quality. The border is also irregular, and it's nice that the picture on the box does not show the border (so that you can't cheat and assemble it first).If you are missing a piece, Artifact Puzzles will send a replacement piece (in my case everything was OK, and I believe such cases are very rare).If you are in doubt, please do yourself a favor and get this puzzle, you won't regret it!

Freaking awesome. High quality with well-defined and delicately-cut figure pieces. The non-figure pieces are sometimes as interesting and as beautiful as the whimsies! There is an underlying pattern going on that you start to notice as you put it together, and a nice challenge with trying to figure out what goes where. I wasn't into the picture itself, but I LOVE doing this puzzle anyway. The irregular edge kept me guessing for a while. This puzzle is recommended for people who love it when a puzzle gives them something to enjoy besides the picture. Thought the picture did grow on me after a while.

Jigsaw puzzles are an under appreciated art form, and this one is without any doubt on my part a work of art. Put your typical Artifact puzzle into a room of bored sapiens, and they will form a vortex of interest. This puzzle, this one, is a little different.This one causes pandemonium.I cannot recommend this piece highly enough. If you've read this far, you know that you need to obtain one.As for the parrot, you know he just works here, because otherwise he'd put it on his bill.

This is the third Artifact Puzzle I've purchased as a gift. These are wonderfully crafted and simply beautiful pieces of art. Not only are the pieces cut to match within the subject matter of the illustration (birds, cups, etc), the patterns they create upon assembly form a secondary visual treat. If you are a puzzle lover, or know someone who is, these make wonderful gifts. Highly recommended.

Good value for price. Pieces don't fit as tightly as some of the competition's. Has some interesting patterns going on in interior of puzzle. Company has interesting subject matter for puzzle images. Limited amount of shaped pieces.

My kids and I were delighted with the puzzle. The detail, quality and design were top notch. I shared with a friend and his daughter finished it the first day. - couldn't stop. We plan to buy more of these puzzles.
