True Temper2039100 Replacement Adze Eye Nail-Claw Hammer Hanndle, 14-Inch

This was really easy to install on my old 1-pound hammer head. I'm glad I can get some more years out of it.

It is a hickory handle. I cannot find these at the local home center anymore. This particular piece of hickory is a fine example of its type. The wood did not split or crack when the hammer head was affixed to it. Like every other replacement handle I have used, it took some finesse to get it in properly with the wooden wedge (supplied but not shown in the picture). This handle works well with a mason hammer head I used.

Assembled to head easily. Wicked in hard epoxy and then drove wedges in. Great result.

Very good handle. Eye just oversized enough that you can fit it tightly without working on it all day. Growth rings’ direction correct, something many handle makers get wrong. Wedge slot is deep enough to line up your saw blade when you deepen it, but not so deep it takes away you fitting options. No pin knots, curved grain, checks/splits, or the like. It’s certainly the best I could have hoped for.

For God sake why make the label impossible to remove easily. You will literally have to sand the adhesive off. Most handles are like this unfortunately.

Item is made from quality material.

It's a great replacement hammer handle. The wood grain could be a little better, but it's one star degraded because the finish is awful. Once the finish is removed, the handle sanded down, custom fit for the hammer head, and refinished, it's a solid product that'll last for decades.

This handle fit perfect and it was pretty easy to install. Just a little trimming off some wood for it to insert into the head all the way.
