Who Was Sitting Bull?

I have purchased six of the books in this series. They are filled with interesting facts about historical events, landmarks and famous people. Easy reading for kids 8 and up. My grandson loves the stories and I enjoy reading them to him as well. Book size is small, and filled with hand drawn illustrations.

It was labeled "good" condition, so I was expecting some scribbles in the pages. But it was a pleasant surprise to get a book that looked brand new!Side note: There was a graphic part that showed sticks poking through skin. I'm pretty sure it was a ritual. But I just said, "Sure, some people might do that, but our family doesn't do that." And I went on to say to my daughter, "We don't have to worry about that. We just gotta be careful around pointy, sharp things." I didn't want to lecture her about culture, religion, or rituals around bedtime, so I didn't make it a big deal.And she didn't have nightmares :)

Love these books. My son, who is 9 has been reading them for a little over a year now and this book is wonderful. I must say that this one is not one of his favorites. He is a history junkey, lol. He so far seems to love the Jackie Robinson, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Robert E Lee, What is the world series the best as a 8 and 9 year old.I also read these to him in the evenings and I really enjoy them as a 40 year old father. I have learned so much from them as well. Sometimes I read them before or after my son in order to have an educated discussion with him about the subject of the book. I really also get alot out of them as well.

My son loves all of these books. He will sit down and read it as soon as one comes in the mail. I don't see him for 2-3 hours and then he cant wait to tell me what he learned. I love that they are educational. They are like mini encyclopedias on one person. My sons 3rd grade teacher recommended them too me. I figure if the teacher likes them, and my son loves them its a win win. I plan to buy the whole series.

I'm fascinated about anything native american but have known very little about the lives of the prominent chiefs in the differant tribes. I enjoyed learning about this man and how he lived his life and his role with his family and his people

Great information about one of the great heroes of the Sioux lakota nation, I highly recommend this to anyone who is wishing to educate their child in history.

Love this book

My 9-year-old son loves this series. This biography in particular led to a very interesting discussion on the history of inequality in the United States, and he had a lot of bright questions to ask, as well as observations to make after reading.

Estou estudando inglês sozinha há dois anos, através de leitura de livros infantis. Esta coleção é ótima porque os textos são simplificados, mas o vocabulário é um pouco complexo e eu, mesmo sendo adulta, aprendo muito sobre as personalidades biografadas. Nível de inglês: pré-intermediário.
