ESQ by Movado Men's 07301452 Catalyst Black PVD Watch

I like this watch primarily for its colorful face. In the marketing photos it looks great. It is slightly heavier on the wrist than I'm used to (likely due to the fact that I typically wear a leather band). The blue hands are more difficult to discern against the black face than you might expect by looking at a still photo in ideal lighting.

Nice looking watch.. more shiny than expected. Really challenging to see the time when it's dark, not sure why they used blue color!!!

Purchased May 21, 2013 for $595 from Zappos. Please be aware that your Jeweler is the only one that should change the battery because of complicated access in the back. Aesthetically pleasing but impractical to rely on for - you know - "the time".

Unless you are outdoors during the day or in a lighted indoor setting, you will not be able to read the dial, the hour and minute hands are dark blue and blend in with the dial. The hands should have been painted a lighter color. It's a heavy, handsome looking watch that has no illumination at all. Keeps good time though.

Very comfortable and just the right size. The reason I gave this watch 4 stars and not 5 is due to the difficulty seeing the time. The blue minute and hour hand are not nearly bright enough to stand out. It is fine (though not great) in bright light. Anything less is a struggle to make out the position of the hands. No quick glance at your wrist with this watch.

When it has came down to what ESQ and Movado have tried to do with watches is try and capture the sales of brands like Michael Kors and Fossil watches. But sadly, that appeal blew up in Movado and many other watch companies faces, by bringing design in to appeal that just doesn't work and loses what made Movado a fantastic watch company to begin with. That does come with so many of the ESQ watches as well. his dark-tone Catalyst loses a bit of the value not just in design, but simplicity. While the colors on this chronograph timepiece look appealing, sadly it loses the class and distinction in many of the Swiss-made watches. While it is easy to setup and read, there could've been more to appeal in this one, like better water resistance, and just use simple colors than make it eye-popping in appeal. I definitely recommend a simple Swiss watch, and sadly ESQ has lost its appeal.Price: C-Setup & Comfort: COverall: C 1/2-
