Fresh, tasty
I've made mapo tofu twice with this, and it's been delicious. The peppercorns are mouth-numbingly fresh and fragrant, and the doubanjiang is chunky, salty, spicy, and oily. Price was fair, too.

Leaking package
The seal on the black bean paste jar came already broken. This caused the oil to leak. Will be returning item.

Insufficient shelf life.
I received these items on October 1st. The Best before date is November 29, 2019. As I use the product by the tablespoon in Asian coking I find this totally unacceptable.

One star because of good packaging
Great with packaging.. but it tastes nasty I might return it .. it’s very salty .. my god it’s salty salty salty .. it’s like I drank sea water oh my god it’s salty !

Amazing
Let me start by talking about some of these fake negative reviews on here. ignore them. Some complain that this is salty. Well, duh! It's like soy sauce in the sense that this is a spice and cooking agent, not a meal in itself. This is supposed to be salty. If you use it right (usually needs to be bloomed in warm or hot oil before cooked in or mixed into other ingredients), it adds such a wonderful and complex layer of flavor. You'll never need much, so it will last a while.
