I Love Monkey Hardcover – October 15, 2009

Love this book!

I bought this book after finding a Yoga lesson plan that utilized this book. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I read the book to my students and, after each page/animal, they'd create a Yoga pose that, to them, represented that animal (I'd say, "Say Cheese", they'd repeat, and I'd say "Eyes closed and breath" and they'd hold the pose and focus on their breathing until I said "Click", representing a photo being taken, which is how we taught the "pose" concept.).I also liked the message that no one can be YOU better than YOU. I will use this again w/my Kindergarteners during our Yoga unit.

I first bought this book for a 3-year-old's birthday, and she loved it so much that I have since given it to every one of my friends' 2-4 year-olds. The story is positive and funny, and the illustrations are fun and creative. It has a simple story line with age-appropriate repetition that is easy for kids to pick up on. Monkey keeps trying different "personas" and dressing the part ("Monkey tried to be a vegetable but it was too corny," "Monkey tried to be a penguin but it was too frosty"); the best part is that Monkey is still visible in each of his costumes. Every kid I've given it to loves it, and it makes adults laugh, too.

This book is great for young children. It discusses how the monkey wants to be something else and tries and tries and fails and then comes to the understanding that he is the best as he is, and that no one else can be him. Very cute!

This is a beautifully illustrated book with a beautiful story! It is a perfect story for all of the little monkeys in your life! What better than a story that expresses how wonderful you are just - as - YOU! You may want to pretend to be many things, but overall you are perfect just as you are! A wonderful story for kids of all ages.

This is one of the cutest books I've ever bought from Amazon- I just love it. I ended up giving it as a gift and then came back and got several more (including one for us). The idea is to just be yourself~it would be cute for a teen or adult novelty gift too. Highly recommended!

The book's quality is nice, but the actual content is just so-so. After about 10 pages of the same thing it gets a little repetitive, the entire book is mostly written on the last page.However, at night before bed my 2 yr old son loves asking for the "monkey" book.

Great book to have to show it children it is good to be different and special. There is no reason to be like anyone else.

We've had this book for a couple years. My little one loves it and so do we!
