Slate 2.0 Mobile LapDesk - The Essential Laptop Accessory for Students, Professionals, Designers, and Gamers (with Mousepad, for 11 to 13 inch Laptops, Limited Walnut Bamboo)

I don't usually write reviews but I'd like to help improve the product. There's no doubt that the craftsmanship is superb. This lap desk is sleek, smooth and modern - very much my style. My 15.6" laptop fits just right and there were no splinters at all (which was my concern based on earlier reviews). However, it doesn't feel "ultra lightweight" as advertised but I can live with that. My main issue is the unusually strong, rubbery smell from the mouse pad. I sprayed fabric freshener generously on the rubber surface and let it air dry overnight. However, 5 days after and the smell of rubber still clings to my right hand even after just a few minutes of using the mouse pad. I don't remember seeing other reviews with this concern so my suggestion for iSkelter to use a different brand/manufacturer of mouse pad may not help. But they should include a quality/odor check on the mouse pad prior to integrating it in the work space. Any odor should be tolerable and it shouldn't be this strong (like fresh, brand new rubber). I am just hoping that the odor wears off soon enough because I really appreciate the overall design of the product.

I was looking for something upon which I would put my computer while sitting outside smoking my pipe. I had grandiose plans of building something, but the plans never left the planning stage. So, I searched Amazon for something that would satisfy my needs, until I became a master wood-worker. I stumbled upon the Slate 2.0, but I only needed it to last me for a while as a place holder. Unfortunately, I had modest expectations.Well, my plans have changed. THIS THING IS AWESOME! The build is absolutely wonderful with no visible flaws noted. The design is perfect. I can work from my laptop, and I can have a movie on my iPad right next to me. The mousepad is solid and is cushioned. The vent holes at the bottom also allow me to grasp it more securely from the bottom and move the entire thing - computer, Slate, mouse and iPad - with one hand not unlike an artist's palette. Seriously, I cannot describe how much I enjoy this thing. I now have to buy another one for the fiancee. The only complaint I have is that I would prefer it would be a little longer. The clearance between the Slate and my chairs arms is only about an inch and a half. But, that is not a design flaw. I am going to blame the chairs.

Great lapdesk except for one caveat, the mouse and laptop will slide if the lapdesk is at an angle. To fix this, I bought a few rubber stoppers and stuffed them in the holes so the laptop wouldn't slide. Works like a charm. I bought #7 stoppers, but had to cut them down a bit as they were too large. Didn't try #6 or #6.5, but one of those might work better. Haven't figured out a way for the mouse to stop sliding when typing though. All in all, this is a well built lapdesk!

Slate 2.0 with Mousepad - Mobile LapDesk (For 15" to 17" Laptops)There are not enough stars or superlatives to describe what a beautiful, blonde, bamboo piece of functional art this lapdesk is!!!. I use it every day at work, to hold my MacBook on my desk while I use my work provided computer so that I can have dual functionality. When it's time for a break and I'm tired of sitting up at my desk, I use this lapdesk on my lap in a recliner to be able to put my legs up and it's perfect, as it has long slot to either park your cell phone or your iPad at the proper angle for viewing as well. The felt lined mouse pad area is yummy feeling and gives the optical mouse a nice place to do it's thing if you use one. The ventilation holes drilled into the bottom mean neither your laptop nor you feel any heat build-up. There is at least I think an inch of bamboo with the ventilation holes, and the bamboo itself is a heat sink that distributes your laptop heat while air circulates underneath, even if it's on your lap or a desktop. This is such a beautiful piece of carved art and I've already convinced a friend of mine who purchased one as well.

This product is incredibly simple in design but the functionality is fantastic. I needed a lapdesk with a mousepad for working out of office. The Slate desk works exactly as I need it too. It keeps my laptop cool as well as my legs, the mousepad is of nice quality and the whole build feels sturdy and solid without being too bulky. My only suggestion would be to sand down the front edge where your wrist touches while using the mouse, the corner tends to rub a little bit.If you are in need of something like this, It isn't the cheapest one, but I'm very happy with this one after a lot of research.

I quite like this little lap desk, and it seems to do the job of helping keep my Surface Pro 4 cool while using it to draw on. My only issues are that the holes and the area around the mousepad are a little rough-edged. I also wish it had come with some little anti-slip dots or a stopper bar or something so the laptop, tablet, etc. doesn't just slide right off.That said, I like it enough that I want one of the more portable ones without the mousepad, so that's something!

I really like the design and usefulness of the Slate 2.0. My only issues are:1. Unlike what other reviewers have experienced, my lap desk isn't sanded to perfection. The right side of the lap desk is rough, as are a couple of other spots, and I actually got a splinter in my finger from it. I don't really want to have to send it back because I like it so much otherwise, so I may try to sand the edge myself.2. The slot that is meant to accommodate my iPhone will only work if I remove the phone from the case, which is not easy to do. I'd also love it if the slot were wide enough for my iPad, but I knew before I ordered that it would only accommodate the iPad Mini. So I wasn't expecting it to fit, but it would have been great if it did.

That table is perfect when you are some one like me who hates using the laptop tracpad and want to use a regular mouse. It feels nice to have on my lap and is comfortable. Im amaze how bamboo cool the hot air coming out of it.All and all its a great product.The only cons i fount about this product is that the edge where you will lay your wrist while using a mouse is not rounded so depending on how you are setup it can hurt your wrist. The solution i found for this problem is to stick a soft velcro stip where my wrist was standing and now its soft and nice :). Its the only complaint i have about the product.

It's beautiful and functional. I use this daily.
