King Charles Matelasse King Bedspread, White

Our King Charles Matelasse King Bedspread arrived today. I have searched for a bedspread here in Western Australia which would cover our new pillow top king size bed to no avail. Bedspreads are no longer a popular item here with most people opting for doonas. I am therefore delighted with our purchase and thrilled that it fits the bed perfectly. The product states the width as 118inches however the packaging reads 114inches, nontheless it's a great fit. The length gives plenty of room for two pillows each side to fit under.The quality seems excellent and the colour a true ivory. I read the reviews regarding shrinking but cannot comment yet, however being in Australia I will use a clothesline to dry as opposed to a dryer and a cold water wash. It may make a difference. Either way am very pleased with my elegant bedspread and the prompt delivery from Amazon.THREE WEEKS LATER: I have now washed this item, (cold water wash in the machine and then dried in the sun on the clothesline). I can report no shrinkage and the bedspread looks wonderful.Very easy to wash.I therefore thoroughly recommend this item and in fact will purchase another for our guest room. Hope this helps other buyers.

Firstly, the color. No, it is not gold as represented in some of these photos but I understood that when I ordered. It is not quite pastel yellow, either. It is the color of butter (not margarine) after it has been out of the fridge a while. I would not call this matelasse, either. It may have been made on matelasse looms; I can't tell. But it has no stiffness, crispness, or "hand" to the fabric. It is nicely weighted, a good quality cotton, but the drape is soft, like your grandmother's old sculpted bedspread. As to size, it is generous. I buy queen bedspreads to use as coverlets on my Cal-King bed, and this one worked nicely. I haven't washed it, but I think it will wash well. If it shrinks, I'll update here in a couple of weeks. A lovely addition to your linen closet, so long as you know what it is. BTW, you can buy this spread elsewhere, but I shopped aggressively and could not beat this price.

First of all- this bedspread is beautiful. The color is gorgeous, and the PERFECT shade of yellow. It's not too gold.. not too lemony.. but instead a beautiful rich buttery tone, that is the perfect compliment for pretty much any color you would use in a bedroom. Bonus is that it is lightweight to sleep under, and will adapt well to all seasons without having to take off the bedspread.The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that you definitely need a bedskirt with it. It's not long enough to go to the floor. Without the bedskirt, it would sit over 6 inches off the ground.As far as shipping goes- that was a bit of a fiasco. The supplier put in the wrong tracking number for the item, and thus, when UPS said they had delivered it, and it wasn't at my door, it was a bit of a worrisome time that I had invested money into something that was not delivered. A few days later however it came, and thus, that's when I found out it was the wrong shipping number.Overall however, I love our new bedspread. It's beyond beautiful, and heavenly to sleep under.

I've had several matelasse spreads - at least I thought they were bedspreads. When I received them, however they were the size of a throw. I wanted something that covered the mattress. We just bought a new bed, and the mattress is 20" deep. This cover everything perfectly. It's fairly heavy and that's good, too. It's long enough from the headboard to the footboard to tuck under the pillows and hand down to the bed frame on the end. I love this bedspread and would recommend it to anyone.

This is the first item I've ordered for international shipment and it won't be the last. To the item itself, it's exactly right. The birch color is neutral and the weight is perfect for a warm climate. Texture is interesting, and size generous, so it's well worth the money. In fact, I like it so well I'm ordering one in red for another bed. I got update emails from DHL and they delivered right on time. This would have taken up half a suitcase, so worth the extra money for shipping - plus it arrived in four days, much shorter than advertised.

Purchased the king size, and it fits beautifully. Pattern is subtle, yet intricate, and the shade of this blue is very soothing in a bedroom. Very little shrinkage noted when laundering in cold water only before first use. The weight is just right, comfortable and cozy. Would purchase again.

I bought this for a king size bed because all the comforters and coverlets on the market seem to be much too small for the new thicker mattresses. I have a mattress topper on my mattress too so finding something that would work was even more of a problem. This bedspread works great for me. I use a bedskirt and the bedspread functions as an ample coverlet.

This is a wonderful bedspread. I love the simple classic look. Liking traditional furnishings, I have had a chenille spread. But I don't like the fringe, or the 'fuzzies' it left. The matelasse bedspread is perfect. As I have a deep mattress, the bedspread alone doesn't reach the floor. But paired with the matching, tailored bed skirt, it is perfect.
