Very good for the money
So far I've tried the Blackhawk CQB Rigger's Belt and the Blackhawk Instructor's Belt (a thicker version of the CQB Rigger's Belt). The Conterra Assault-Rescue Belt is about 1/3 less expensive than both of the Blackhawks. I also tried the Spec-Ops Better BDU Belt, which is not a rigger's/rescue belt. The nylon material used by Conterra is the same width as the Blackhawk (1.75"). It also is about the same thickness/stiffness as the Blackhawk CQB Rigger's Belt. There are two main ways buckles of this type secure the belt. Blackhawk uses a buckle and rigger's loop that are separate from each other. The Conterra uses a unified rigger's loop with the buckle, which forms a sort of triangle. I haven't found any advantage of one over the other. However, the Conterra pulls ahead of the Blackhawk. The Blackhawk has a problem with sizing, because the Medium is too small for me, and the large is too big (I am a 36" waist). On the other hand, the Conterra is perfect, with velcro loop material winding around most of the belt. I get about 7 inches of "bitter end" (excess belt material), meaning the belt can slip a fair amount before it lets loose. The only thing I don't like is the small amount of velcro hook material at the end of the belt (which secures to the vecro loop material and keeps the excess belt from flapping around). However, for 30 cents, I can add a little more.I did hang my weight (190 lbs) from a D-ring using this belt, and it seemed to hold fine. Although this belt is comfortable to wear as a regular belt when not rappeling, any rigger's/rescue type belt is very uncomfortable when rappeling vs. using a harness. It truly is a "last chance" belt. All in all, I like this belt the most so far (except for the Spec-Ops Better BDU Belt, which is not a rescue belt).
