"weathered" means rough with large splinters!!!
I purchased this piece to help tie together some older and newer pieces in my dining room. The style and color is absolutely perfect and it truly pulls the room together, helping blend some older oak pieces with a new table and chairs that has green chairs and an oak top. The problem is that I've seen "weathered" pieces before, but I've never noticed them having rough edges, sloppy stain or large splinters (DANGEROUS!) I was so excited because we that this piece came with no assembly required because we had tried (and returned) a previous piece that was an assembly nightmare! I will probably keep it because I just don't have it in me to try ordering something online a third time, and none of my local furniture stores have anything in these colors. The quality is just disappointing (and frankly, the splinters are dangerous).
