Does the job
As someone from southern China, I like drinking coconut water and cook with the coconut meat. The tool opens the coconut and enable me to satisfy my cravings. Not 5 stars because it still take some effort to open. At least I have to ask my husband to open the coconut since I wasn't able to do it myself. FYI, I am petite 5'2'' .

Gimmick
This item is a bit of a gimmick. You would be better off using a machete, the traditional way. You have to hit the metal part really hard, several times and we worried about damaging our countertops. When we couldn't get it open on the counter top we tried the floor and were worried about damaging the tile. Eventually we took the whole thing outside and were able to open it. It was not easy and my parents were not happy I brought such a product into the house.

Cheap price but CHEAP QUALITY
The quality of work on the metal part of the coconut opener is very poor. The rubber handle is so sippery. it is not glued onto the metal part so it slides off too. Mallet is cheap black rubber, strong smell. It didn't work at all, don't waste your money.
