This professional portable pop-up terrarium is for raising and breeding butterflies and other insects. Professional version butterfly habitat is more square, sits straight, does not rock or move. When unfolded the cage measures: 24 x 24 x 35.5 inches. Package include: 1 x Butterfly Habitat Terrarium. Using Instructions: 1. Be careful when opening the Big, Tall monarch butterfly cages- after you slip off the elastic strap from around the circle, the cage can pop open unexpectedly so make sure you have plenty of space and no breakable objects close by. 2. After opening your cage, the PVC side will be creased from folding. Get the creases out quickly by blow drying the PVC with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes, or place PVC toward warm sun to relax wrinkles. 3. Always close the cage door so the zippers meet at the TOP CENTER. If a caterpillar is somewhere on the zipper, this will allow you to zip down the other side to open. 4. Clean the cage after a disease outbreak or at season's end by soaking it in a 5% bleach solution (19 parts water to 1 part bleach) for about 20 minutes. The cage can be soaked in a tub or laundry tub. 5. Rinse your cage with water and then let it sun dry- hang it on a clothesline or put a rock on the floor so it won't blow away. 6. When folding the cage for storage, place your hands on opposite upper corners of the cage and press one corner in to fold the cage flat. 7. Store the cage flat in a closet, under bed, behind a couch, etc..

Great for butterflies
We raise a lot of monarch caterpillars into butterflies and they do well in this enclosure. There is lots of room to put jars of milkweed and the butterflies tend to like to travel to the top of the enclosure and make their chrysalis there. The mesh of the enclosure is small so caterpillars can't escape and it also makes it easy for them to make their webbing to attach for making their chrysalis. Once they hatch into butterflies they have plenty of room to stretch their wings and even flutter about some if they want to before we release them.

Working well for hatching swallowtails
This butterfly habitat is the idea size for putting a large pot of dill and parsley in to feed swallowtail caterpillars. We have other pots with flowers and some parsley on the deck that the butterflies lay eggs on and my carefully transfers leaves that the eggs are on to the habitat enclosure. The caterpillars are protected from the many birds that feed on them. We have hatched many black swallowtails already this summer with more developing in the enclosure at this time. To protect the enclosure from winds and storm we have placed it in a corner on our deck that has lattice and railings for it to rest against. The weight of the pot inside holds it down and the railings protect it. It's mostly a thin fabric, but it is holding up exceptionally well, and I expect we will get at least two seasons of use from it. It breaks the strong storm rains enough that it seems all of the eggs we have found and placed in it have survived and eventually formed into butterflies. I would buy it again.

Huge!!!!
So, Lets start with I decided to help out my garden by wanting to raise praying mantis and Butterflies. This was due to our area in Georgia is destroying all habitat for wildlife and being a gardener you need pollinators and bug control or if you consume food you need pollinators. So, I purchased these due to praying mantis tend to have hundreds of babies per egg casing and to keep them from eating each other you need to make sure they have space to escape each other I read the measurements and thought ok perfect that will be good for them to move around and escape each other. well we got them in the mail and they fold up very compact so in off season they can be stored easily I opened one and was absolutely amazed how big they are I ordered two because we thought about raising two batches of praying mantis but decided to do butterflies and praying mantis odd set I know. The containers are large and sturdy. they have double zippers for ease of access and it has a large opening on the front to move plants or critter's in and out of. The walls has two mesh walls a plastic wall to keep wind down and the door is mesh. very impressed good value for money.

Perfect size for placing around a potted host plant.
Just opened this item...is exactly what I was looking for. This enclosure is big enough to set a potted milkweed host plant inside of to keep my monarch caterpillars from escaping or getting wasp parasites. Mesh is thin enough to easily see though to monitor activity. Only concern I have (hence the 4 stars) is that the mesh/zippers feel pretty flimsy...I don't know how they will hold up to a season (or hopefully multiple seasons) of use. I'll try to remember to give an update this Fall.

worked like a charm
I was able to place the entire planter in the cage and boy oh boy did I get chrysalis after chrysalis in that cage. It is light weight. It was easy to clean after we had a torrential downpour and more than an inch of rainwater accumulated in the bottom. It was easy to transport to a neighbor who babysat the pre-butterflys while I was away. Now if I can figure out how to fold it up for next year it will be perfect.

I raised two rounds of black swallowtail butterflies in this... love it.
It was the perfect thing to use as a beginner raising butterflies. It didn't allow any other little wasps or flies into it and I will be able to use it again and again. I actually held it down with bricks and the put pots of fennel and parsley into the Terrarium. I used it with the plastic on top. Was super cool how it withstood a few storms and protected everything inside. Would for sure recommend this.

Great product
It is a great size for raising butterflies because it gives them room to fly once they hatch from the chrysalis. My daughter collects caterpillars, feeds them and then releases the butterflies. I gave three stars for easy to clean because when the butterflies hatch they ooze on to the sides and it really can’t be cleaned easily but honestly I don’t know how that could be fixed. Otherwise great product and the clear plastic side makes viewing the butterflies great.

Great for raising caterpillars!!!
I will be using this enclosure to raise monarch caterpillars in my classroom. It is hard to find a good enclosure that has a bottom that is easy to clean. The zipper opens easily, the handles make it helpful too!!! It’s bigger than I expected but that’s great because I can fit tall milkweed plants in it when I stand it on end.
