NEW LARGE 12-INCH BAMBOO STEAMER 2-TIER

I bought it because "customer" Danny said the inside depth of basket was "about 3 inches" in 2019. But I measure the depth is 2 inches on single layer and the maximum space between layers is 2.4" which means the limit of food height. The whole unit has many bamboo burrs and the craft quality is below average. The bottom meshes make the cleaning difficult comparing to no wrapping style bottom, although very traditional design. The wall is thicker than my other two "shallow" steamers but the bottom structure is weaker. An impact from outside is questionable due to poor bracket support from the bottom meshes in wrapping, if dropped on hard floor by accident.

love steam cooking this steamer is great but would like it to be taller, but over all well made buy it you will like it.

I had been looking for the kind of bamboo steamer my mom had when she taught me how to cook. Most of the ones available in stores are too shallow to accommodate steaming dishes for the authentic Chinese dinners I cook. Those were made more for pupu size foods to be put directly onto the wood slats. I was happy to finally fine this steamer because it holds my large steaming dish for things like pork hash, steamed chicken, Chinese-style steamed fish, etc.

Our old bamboo steamers finally gave way, we took the plunge and order 2 sets. Unlike our beloved old steamer, these steamers do not sit properly in the wok because they are not that round. Steam escapes between the layers, so the vegetables remain uncooked. We love our old bamboo steamers from day one to to this day, they still give off that pleasant bamboo smell. These do not smell at all. The bamboo steamers we received are not like those in the picture, they were stapled together, not held together by bamboo strings.Customer service did not allow us to return because it has been used. All over amazon, customers return items after using them. We sent a second email, waited 2 days and no reply. Luckily we only used one set, whatever it is, the unused set is going back.

This works fine but the size is really intended for "restaurant" quantity cooking and it will only fit over the largest of your pans. The quality if nice and it was shipped quickly.
