⏰ Time is on your side with the Next DS3231!
The Next DS3231 RTC Board is a versatile real-time clock module designed for seamless integration with both Raspberry Pi and Arduino platforms. It operates at 3.3V and 5V, eliminating the need for level conversion, making it a practical choice for a variety of electronic projects.

Serious design flaw removes use of GPIO header.
This RTC was meant to replace the PiFACE clock I had been using on my RPi B+. I decided to change clocks because the PiFACE clock is shaped in such a way that it covers the B+ and A+ Pi's processor and cooling devices (if added and my B+ has an MCM Copper heatsink with center tape removed and replaced with Arctic MX-4 with Air Pockets removed). This device was not as good as the PiFACE clock because it does not have holes or pins on the back to make use of the 5-pins it connects to on the GPIO so nothing can be connected there (including ribbon cables to extend the GPIO input/outputs) once this clock is connected. What has to be done is pins must be found and carefully soldered onto the back of this clock to allow use of the GPIO pins once this is connected. It is the smallest RTC for the Raspberry Pi I've seen but its use removes the use of 3.3V, Ground and other pins of the GPIO. This clock is cheap so if you have a way to get and solder Pins on the back of this clock it could be useful, otherwise it is a bit of a waste because of the loss of 5 GPIO header pins including the 3.3V pin 1 and Ground of pin 5. This is so on the B+, A+, B and A models of Raspberry Pi.

Decent Product.
Works as advertised, easy to install, difficult to setup and get working properly, if it came with a working and tested tutorial that would help out alot.Other than setup it does what it is supposed to and works reliably. Recommend making an image once you get it working in case you ever need to restore your installation in the future.

Good RTC, needs slide in battery.
I don't know how old the batteries are in these, but mine measured 2.87 volts before installation. I hope this supplier maintains a supply of the solder-in batteries so I can replace it when needed. Works great, simple install but I'm only using the RTC functionality.

Works but not much installation help
It works. It's easy to install but instructions for the installation are rather thin on the ground and seem to be based on a different chip.

Three Stars
I have not used it yet, but it looks to be manufactured well.

Like about half of these modules - the battery was DOA
If you are using on RPi and it will not hold time after shutdown, before you do anything else: check the battery! I soldered in a new battery and it works fine.

Easy to install hardware
Delivered as promised. Low cost item. Installed it on my Raspberry PI B+. Easy to install hardware. Easy to install software using Adafruit learn for different breakout, but using same chip and i2c. You can set local time using Raspi-config tool. Now my motion and time lapse pictures have a correct local date-time stamps without the need for Internet connection or WiFi dongle.

Works Great
been using now for over a year - still has good time - although instructions on how to install and setup would have been helpful
