Q: Would the 48 x 46 clip ones fit 47 w x 43 h glasses, or would it be too large?

This reply is from a purchaser (not a manufacturer representative): My eyeglass frames (oval/semi-round) have maximum dimensions of 48W x 42H. The 48 x 46 clip-on sunglasses overlap my frames a little at the top/outside and at the bottom. However, they fit well and are very secure. They are spring-loaded horizontally and generally require two hands to 'stretch' them when clipping to your eyeglasses. When not in use, the space between the two sunglass lenses is about 9mm. So if you have a normal-sized bridge between your eyeglass lenses, they should fit securely and you should have full coverage over your 47W x 43H eyeglass lenses. I don't think that the small overlap of your frames should be an issue if you are primarily concerned about function vs. fashion.

Q: What are the size of the lenses and the width of clip ones?

There is a measurement device on the seller's site. I used that before ordering.

Q: As a former consultant to Polaroid, albeit with non-technical expertise, I find these sunglasses aren't properly treated for cutting glare. Why?

You should ask the Manufacturer's engineering folks because they would know to what specification (ANSI Z80.3-2018) they are made . I bought them because they fit and looked good, plus they are great for driving in sunny Florida.

I like the gray but I have never tried the amber so I don't now.
