A beautiful silver "Walking Liberty" half dollar, the design used for American fifty cent coins from 1916-1947. These coins will be dated in the 1940s. Each coin is in almost uncirculated condition - very little wear from circulation and strong luster (see pictures for examples). The obverse side of the coin features the iconic Walking Liberty design of American sculptor Adolph Weinman, who also designed the Mercury dime. Lady Liberty, draped in the American flag, strides towards the dawn of a new day. She carries branches of oak and laurel in her arms, symbols of military and civil power. On the reverse side, a bald eagle perches upon a mountain crag with wings outstretched. The Walking Liberty half dollar has been a long-time favorite of coin collectors, due to its beautiful design and high silver content. Each coin contains 90% fine silver, and weighs 12.5g. The coins measure 30.6mm in diameter.
