This movie is fantastic from 1995
I love every aspect of this movie, it well written, directed, great actors and actresses of this time period. A true period piece with authentic romance. Not bullshit written by wokies and feminists. great story and overall ties in with Waterworld with Kevin Kostner. Sean Connery was a legend.

An enjoyable take on King Arthur
This is a good movie! I enjoyed watching and learning where Lancelot came from, (in this movie) and how King Arthur described the Round Table. A good movie with some great actors! If you like movies about King Arthur and Lancelot and the other knights, don't miss this movie.

In memory of Ben Cross (4.5 stars)
This is one of those largely unseen movies that deserved more recognition. Tonight as I see the obituary for Ben Cross, I will watch this movie in memory of and with sincere appreciation for Cross' unlimited talent. He goes effortlessly from Harold in Chariots of Fire to malevolent Malagant without missing a step and yet is believable in both roles. RIP, Ben.As I watched again after not seeing this movie for several years, though, I changed my rating from 5 down to 4.5 because Gere is exactly the WRONG actor to play Lancelot: He's not good-looking enough personally (recognizing that beauty is in the eye of the beholder) and therefore his character is not handsome enough to be so arrogant to think that "of course" m'lady would desire him. He is without a doubt the most blatantly Americanized actor to ever attempt this role - there's hardly a hint of his even trying to speak like a knight of that era or continent. I can't offer a suggestion for what European actor should have played the part, but I can guarantee you Richard was one of the worst choices for such an exemplary script. [Sorry to be so harsh toward Richard, but sometimes, actors are out of their depth and should just admit it and step aside. His lack of skills to handle this character are laughably obvious and a distraction.]The other three leads (Sean, Julia, Ben) saved the day and the film.

Great movie!
Our household watched A Knights Tale for movie night and it reminded me so much of how I loved the story of King Arthur and Camelot. I did buy Camelot, the movie, but also saw this one with Sean Connery and Richard Gere (two favorite actors) and took a chance. I absolutely love this film and the story. It was beautifully done and even with so much violence, no swearing or nudity, which makes it a great family movie! Totally loved it!!! I'll watch it over and over!
