Hard to assemble
This hive has great quality material. The wood is thick and strong the wax coating is thick and even. The only thing I had trouble with was the dove tail joints were out of tolerance. I had to use a knife and sand paper to take off a bit of wood from the joints and to hammer them together with a rubber mallet. It was a bit more time consuming to do have to do that. I hope they fix that because I plan to order again in the future. The quality was exceptional and the price was good. The rest of the assembly went smoothly and the hive came with a mouse guard that I didn’t notice when I ordered.

Great starter kits
We are beekeepers and we have around 10 of these Hoover hives. One of the best hives made. The only recommendation is tooter them in a lighter color with these extremely hot temperatures. I will continue to purchase these hive as I add to our colony.

Looks great with beewax coating
I like this product. All the parts were there except maybe nails for the frames but you can use a nail brad gun or small wire nails like I did. Use a good quality wood glue as well on the joints of the frames. The frames are quick to assemble, maybe 3 -4 minutes per frame. Only one frame piece out of 60 or 70 pieces was cracked and I glued it back together. All other wood pieces were good.Coated steel nails came with the kit for joining the box sections. I think these nails will rust over time so I used 1-1/4" long deck screws, three per connection joint. I used a rubber hammer to assemble the box pieces. The wax coating on all the parts is thick an uneven but this is not a problem as far as I am concerned. It made the box section dovetails easier to assemble. It also looks good as you can see by the photos. I would buy this product again based on what I see.

Got two, one was perfect but the other one...........
I wanted one but ordered two by mistake. Figured I would keep them both. The first one was perfect. The dovetails were tight and needed just a little tap to pop together. The wood was consistent quality and had no problems putting in any of the nails. Nice grain and wax finish, absolutely great. FIVE STARS. But the second one. First, the piece of word designated the "entry reducer" was missing. Second, the wood did not look as good as it had a lot of knots, including at the dovetails. Putting this one together was harder and some of the dove tails needed some work due to the knots. When it came time to nail, I quickly found not to try to put a nail thru a knot that is involved in a dovetail. The first time I tried the knot split out leaving a hole in the side of the box. After that I did not use nails near any knots and just let it go with all the other nails around that the knotty dove tail. I ended up have to use wood putty to fix the hole and let it air out for a week before trying to use it, just in case the wood putty was still out gassing. Had I gotten this box first I would recommend not ordering this product., I give this one a THREE STAR rating. I think with a little quality control they can prevent the knots at the dovetails. There were three different nails included in each hive so running out of nails was not an issue. They recommend using glue on the joints but the boxes really do not need it with the dovetails and nails. The Frames however definitely needed some glue. It would be nice if they included a small bottle of glue or at least give a recommendation of what kind of glue they think is best. Last issue, the guy delivering them was not entirely happy about the weight of each box. Keep that in mind, you might want to let them deliver by the garage door instead of having come up steps to deliver at the front door.

Ikea should take notes.
This was the easiest thing to assemble I've ever worked with. The dovetailes are cut perfect. So perfect the wax it's dipped in make it a little difficult to to put together. I could definitely see how a heat gun would make it easier, but I just used a knife to scrap the excess away. I then used a rubber mallet to tap them together.I did take the precaution of predrilling the screws, and of the 40 or so screw holes I had minor cracks in the wood in 2 places where I didn't pay close enough attention keeping my screws straight. It's sturdy enough I'm confident I could stand on top of it without damaging it. There is such a thick coat of wax on it I don't imagine I'll need to reapply any for years.I was dreading working with this after some of the reviews as I have a short temper and blessed with zero natural aptitude for any sort of wood working, but now I wish I had more of them to work on. That was so easy it really turned in to a bit of zen time for me.

Be careful
For a 2 brood 1 super hive, it's pretty good for a beginner or a pro. The price is higher than comparable brands...like the may bee hive...I would like to mention that when you put this together, be careful! You will split the wood if you hit the pieces too hard. And when you drive the screws in, use the lowest setting on your driver. The frames were pretty repetitive, yet therapeutic in a way... I would suggest adding wood glue to the joints for the frames and nail your nails as straight as possible...if you mess up, use more wood glue. The wax is HEAVY on the boxes so use caution when fitting them together...other than that, have at it!

Great hives
I’ve ordered 3 of these now and they are very good quality. The dovetail cuts are precision. The fit together easily if you just scrape out excess wax out of the joint and wiggle them back and forth until they are full set. No hammering even necessary if you do it that way. I’ve used a rubber hammer on one of my first ones and it still caused some wood damage. So the wiggle technique sets them much better. They are a great price and I hope they don’t ever go up in price cause these are my go-to hives because of the great value. My first hive still looks like new and I’ve had it for two years.
