Design Trend Rectangular Stainless Steel Step Trash Can with Soft Close Lid | 40 Liter / 10.5 Gallon, Silver

We have used a side by side garbage/recycle can for several years and they are harder to find. I purchased the Oliver Smith and was happy with what I received for a few months. Now, unfortunately the lift mechanism for the right side has broken and the lid sits at a weird angle. Before it actually broke, the lid made a creaking sound as it closed and even after trying to clean it our make sure there was nothing stuck in the mechanism, it ended up breaking. So the price is great, shipping is way high and duration should be better.

I really like the look of the dual stainless steel trash cans. They look clean and are easy to use. It's kind of pain trying to line the cans - I wish it were designed better for this purpose. We spend a lot of time tucking the bag into place. The lids are soft close, but not soft open. Since we have our can pushed up against our island, unless you press gingerly on the pedal, the lid snaps open and slaps the countertop with a bang. I wish the manufacturer did not put a sticker on the outside of the can - it took a lot of work to pry it off without damaging/scratching the polished surface. Also, my can arrived with a couple of noticeable dents but fortunately it was on the side that most people won't see. I saw in the reviews that others have had this problem and so you would think they would adjust the packing. Overall I am pleased.

I was puzzled about the shipping cost. But once it finally got here it was fine. It serves the duty of a two in one can for the kitchen. One for trash and one for recycling. I was trying to find a can that can hold more so that store bought bags would work. This is a tad bit smaller so you don’t quite fill out the bags. Also the bags are a bit of a hassle to fit.

Product came with dings and dents, most of which weren't too difficult to work out, but the thing that really earned the two stars is the flimsy self opening/closing mechanism. I have only had this can for a few months, and it gets used a few times a day, tops. One of the doors has already stopped functioning altogether, not sure how long the other one will last. Save your money and buy a step garbage can, the mechanism is gimmicky at best, not worth the money. Update: Had to downgrade it to one star, there is a one year warranty on this can, but it isnt listed anywhere and Amazon doesn't even have it on hand. What good is a warranty when you can't contact the company with a problem?

They look ok but the metal bends easily, I bought this for some of the conference rooms in my office and some of them came with a bend and the ones that came in good conditions are already looking bad. Maybe good for homes but not for office use.

I don't know why it's asking me to rate the motion detection... You have to step on the lever to open it.Anyways, good quality. my negative would be that when you put the bag in there's no "lip" to tuck the bag under so it just kind of gets shoved in there and sometimes you can see the bag out the top when you first change it if there's nothing holding the bag down inside, if that makes sense.

I just got it so I’m not sure about some of the ratings. What I do know is: 1, instructions would be nice. It’s actually pretty simple, but takes a little figuring out. Finding the place for the batteries is one thing, and the on/off switch is the other. I was trying to get the batteries in, and the lid kept on opening and closing. Like I said, simple, and once you find those two things, no problem. My biggest issue with it is that it is NOT soft close.

Purchased this trash can for a coffee shop area. We immediately had drinks leaking out the bottom. Upon inspection, the design is flawed. There are holes in the bottom so if the trash bag leaks the can definitely will too. Disappointing because we loved the appearance of the can.
